Cloud Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Cloud Engineer to manage and support enterprise virtualization and hyper converged infrastructure platforms, primarily VMware and Nutanix environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, scalability, and security of virtual infrastructure supporting business-critical applications.

This role requires strong technical expertise in virtualization technologies, infrastructure operations, automation, and troubleshooting within enterprise environments.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Cloud Engineer to manage and support enterprise virtualization and hyperconverged infrastructure platforms, primarily VMware and Nutanix environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, scalability, and security of virtual infrastructure supporting business-critical applications.

This role requires strong technical expertise in virtualization technologies, infrastructure operations, automation, and troubleshooting within enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

VMware Infrastructure Management

·      Deploy, configure, and maintain VMware platforms including vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter

·      Manage clusters, resource pools, and virtual machines (VMs)

·      Configure and maintain VMware HA, DRS, and vMotion

·      Perform patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management activities

·      Manage VM templates, snapshots, and provisioning activities

Nutanix Infrastructure Management

·      Administer Nutanix AOS and AHV environments

·      Manage clusters using Nutanix Prism Element and Prism Central

·      Provision and maintain virtual machines and storage containers

·      Perform cluster upgrades, expansion, and health monitoring

·      Configure high availability and storage policies

Infrastructure Operations and Support

·      Monitor infrastructure health, capacity, and performance

·      Troubleshoot virtualization-related incidents and perform root cause analysis

·      Collaborate with network, storage, and system teams for issue resolution

·      Ensure optimal resource utilisation and workload balancing

Backup, Recovery and Security

·      Manage VM backup and recovery operations

·      Conduct disaster recovery (DR) testing and restoration exercises

·      Implement security hardening and vulnerability remediation

·      Manage role-based access control (RBAC) and compliance requirements

Automation and Optimisation

·      Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerCLI, Ansible, REST APIs, or equivalenttools

·      Streamline provisioning and operational processes

·      Support capacity planning and infrastructure optimisation initiatives

Documentation and Reporting

·      Maintain operational documentation, architecture diagrams, and runbooks

·      Produce reports on incidents, performance, and capacity utilisation

·      Support audit and compliance documentation requirements Requirements

Education & Experience

·      Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline

·      Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience managing VMware and/or Nutanix environments

·      Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure operations in a 24x7 environment is advantageous

Technical Skills

·      Strong knowledge of VMware technologies: vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, SRM

·      Experience with Nutanix technologies: AOS, AHV, Prism, Leap, Calm

·      Familiarity with backup solutions such as Commvault

·      Experience with automation tools such as PowerCLI and Ansible

·      Understanding of virtualization security, DR, and infrastructure best practices

Soft Skills

·      Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

·      Good communication and documentation abilities

·      Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

·      Customer-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities

Additional Information

·      Exposure to enterprise cloud and virtualization environments

·      Candidates must be willing to support after-hours maintenance or critical incident activities when required
