J.D. Irving, Limited is a privately owned Canadian conglomerate headquartered in Saint John, New Brunswick, with businesses in forestry and forest products, shipbuilding and industrial fabrication, transportation and logistics, consumer products, food, agriculture, retail and construction equipment. Founded in 1882 and part of the Irving family group of companies, it employs more than 20,000 people in Canada and the United States through subsidiaries such as Irving Shipbuilding, Irving Tissue, Cavendish Farms, Kent Building Supplies and its railways. It hires truck drivers, skilled trades, papermaking and process engineers, maintenance supervisors, sales associates and finance analysts.

The primary role of this position is to focus on maximizing equipment uptime and operational efficiency across the mill's high-speed production lines. Working directly with millwrights, maintenance planners, and plant operators, this position tracks downtime data and conducts root cause failure analyses (RCA) to eliminate chronic machinery breakdowns. Day-to-day responsibilities center on predictive and preventive maintenance programs-such as routine vibration analysis, thermal imaging, and lubrication monitoring-applied to critical heavy assets like debarkers, high-speed trimmers, planers, sorters, and drying kilns. The incumbent will also work to optimize spare parts inventory and engineer continuous equipment upgrades, working in close coordination with the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Supervisors and Production Manager.
