Jagex is a British video game developer and publisher best known for the online role-playing games RuneScape and Old School RuneScape. Founded in 1999, it runs its games on free-to-play and subscription models and hires producers, data scientists, marketing and platform engineering staff. The company is headquartered in Cambridge, England, United Kingdom.

Office location: Cambridge, UK - This position offers flexible working options, but will require some onsite presence once a week. Applicants should be based (or willing to relocate) within a comfortable commuting distance of our office to attend onsite as required.

Application closing date: Monday 16th November 2026

Do you know Old School RuneScape inside out - the content, the communities, the ecosystems, and exactly how players will react when something changes?

As Community Manager on the Old School team, you’ll bring two things in equal measure: genuine, deep knowledge of Old School RuneScape and the professional craft to turn that knowledge into effective community strategy. You’ll be the person designers turn to when they need to understand what an update will mean for players before it goes live. You’ll help us anticipate concerns, shape how we communicate changes, and make sure players feel heard throughout.

What sets this role apart from a typical CM position is that game knowledge isn’t an afterthought - it’s central to everything you’ll do. We can work with someone who has built their community management career outside of games, but we can’t work with someone who doesn’t truly know this one.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Act as the team’s Old School expert - advising designers on how updates will land with different player groups, identifying community concerns, and helping us get ahead of them before content ships.
  • Manage our community platforms including forums, Reddit, Discord, and social media - building and maintaining genuine relationships with players every day.
  • Produce and feature in livestreams, videos, and podcasts, acting as a public-facing voice for the Old School team.
  • Champion the player internally - representing community sentiment to development teams and making sure the player perspective is heard in content and publishing decisions.
  • Manage relationships with partners, affiliates, influencers, volunteers, and sub-communities across the Old School ecosystem.
  • Monitor and report on community sentiment and engagement, contributing data-driven insight to the wider team’s strategy.
  • Contribute to in-game and real-world events, competitions, and community activations that grow and celebrate the Old School player community.

What we’re looking for:

  • Deep, current knowledge of Old School RuneScape including its content, niche communities, player ecosystems, and how changes to the game ripple through them. This is the single most important thing we’re assessing.
  • Comfort being on camera and speaking publicly - weekly livestreams are a core part of this role.
  • The ability to think critically about a problem, propose a practical solution, and present it confidently to colleagues - even when the situation is messy or the community is unhappy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone for different platforms and audiences.
  • Experience in community management, player support, PR, account management, or another role that involved regular, high-pressure communication with people.
  • Resilience - we need someone who can hold their ground professionally, advocate hard for the community, and not take it personally when things are difficult.

Interview Process:

  • A 30 minute introductory call with the Hiring Manager.
  • A task stage - you'll be sent a set of questions and asked to record yourself answering them. This is your chance to show us how you think and communicate on your feet.
  • A 1 hour interview with some of the Old School leadership.
  • A meet the team conversation - a chance for both sides to decide if its the right fit.

What we offer:

When you join Jagex you can look forward to a generous Perks & Benefits package including:

  • Private Healthcare, including Dental Plan.
  • Discretionary annual performance bonus.
  • Minimum 6% Pension contributions.
  • Life Insurance.
  • Enhanced family leave policies from day 1.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • 25 days annual leave + Bank holidays & the option to buy/sell holidays + so much more!

This role is only open to applicants who have the permanent right to work in the UK. We are unable to provide or take over visa sponsorship for this position, either now or in the future.
