Title \/ Role: Project Manager – Solar & Renewable Energy Projects Location: Sandton Vacancy: Permanent | Probation period applies | Salary range: To be confirmed Seniority: Mid-Senior \/ Management Overview: We are seeking a Project Manager to plan, execute and deliver solar PV, battery energy storage and associated electrical infrastructure projects. The role will coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, subcontractors and client stakeholders, with a strong focus on project schedules, budgets, quality, safety and compliance. Candidates should demonstrate hands-on involvement in Eskom-related energy or grid infrastructure projects. Responsibilities: • Manage solar PV, BESS and related electrical infrastructure projects from initiation and detailed planning through construction, testing, handover and close-out. • Develop project plans, schedules, milestone trackers, resource plans, budgets and risk registers, and report on delivery against agreed objectives. • Coordinate engineers, designers, EPC contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, site teams and client representatives. • Oversee procurement, equipment delivery, installation sequencing, site readiness and contractor performance. • Manage relevant Eskom and utility interfaces, grid-connection activities, permit submissions and technical approvals with responsible specialists. • Monitor project financial performance, variations, forecasts, invoices and commercial risks; implement corrective actions where necessary. • Ensure adherence to applicable HSE requirements, quality standards, technical specifications and contractual obligations. • Lead project meetings, maintain accurate progress reporting, resolve issues and support commissioning, acceptance testing and final handover. Minimum Requirements: • Relevant degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or a related field. • Proven project management experience delivering solar PV, BESS, renewable energy or associated electrical infrastructure projects. • Demonstrable experience on Eskom projects or working with Eskom-related grid connection, utility infrastructure or approval processes. • Hands-on experience managing project scope, schedules, budgets, contractors, procurement, HSE, risks and project reporting. • Understanding of solar PV\/BESS project delivery, EPC environments and relevant South African electrical and grid compliance requirements. • Competence using project planning and reporting tools, such as MS Project, Primavera P6 or equivalent. • Strong client communication, negotiation, leadership and problem-solving abilities. • Willingness to travel to project sites as required. • PMP, PRINCE2, SACPCMP registration or similar project management credentials would be advantageous.
