Accountant

Typical Duties

• Coordinate accounting functions and related financial programs.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial analyses, management reports, and accounting schedules.
• Prepare consolidated financial reports incorporating information from multiple branches and subsidiaries.
• Assist with the preparation, monitoring, and analysis of annual budgets.
• Maintain, review, and reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
• Assist with annual audit planning, preparation, and supporting documentation.
• Investigate and resolve audit findings, account discrepancies, control weaknesses, and instances of non-compliance.
• Prepare and submit tax returns and related tax schedules.
• Assist with ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax legislation, and internal financial policies.
• Contribute to the development, implementation, and improvement of accounting systems, processes, programs, and procedures.
• Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff as required.
• Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant accounting experience; experience within the motor industry will be advantageous.
• CA(SA) qualification or progress toward CA(SA) will be advantageous.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Working knowledge of IFRS and South African tax legislation.
• Strong understanding of financial accounting, reconciliations, reporting, and financial controls.
• Valid Code 8 driver’s licence.
