Data & BI Support Analyst

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis & Reporting

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines from SQL databases, Excel, CSV files, and other data sources.
• Develop, publish, and continuously improve Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Create meaningful visualisations and KPI reporting to support business decision-making.
• Write efficient and accurate SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, validation, and reporting.

Business Intelligence Development

• Perform data modelling, DAX development, and Power Query transformations within Power BI.
• Optimise dashboard performance and enhance user experience.
• Translate stakeholder requirements into reporting solutions and actionable insights.
• Support the ongoing development and enhancement of BI reporting capabilities.

Data Quality & Governance

• Conduct data validation and reconciliation activities to ensure reporting accuracy.
• Implement and maintain data quality controls and checks.
• Apply data governance best practices and ensure compliance with privacy and data protection requirements.
• Ensure analytical outputs are validated before distribution to internal and external stakeholders.

AI-Assisted Analytics

• Leverage AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, and similar technologies to accelerate insight generation.
• Use AI-assisted techniques for trend identification, anomaly detection, data summarisation, and executive reporting.
• Apply best practices in prompt engineering and validate AI-generated outputs for accuracy and business relevance.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting and analytical requirements.
• Present findings and recommendations in a clear, concise, and business-friendly manner.
• Convert complex datasets into compelling stories that support data-driven decision-making.
• Support dashboard adoption and continuous improvement through stakeholder feedback.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• Diploma or Degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience

• 2-4 years of experience in a Data Analyst, BI Analyst, or Reporting Analyst role.
• Experience supporting business intelligence and reporting environments.
• Exposure to operational, service, or business performance reporting environments will be advantageous.

Technical Skills

• Intermediate to Advanced SQL, including joins, aggregations, and data manipulation.
• Strong Power BI experience, including:
  • Data Modelling
  • DAX
  • Power Query
  • Dashboard design and optimisation
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:
  • Pivot Tables
  • Power Query
  • Data cleansing and transformation techniques
• Understanding of data governance, data quality, and privacy principles.
• Exposure to Python or similar automation technologies will be advantageous.
• Experience with AI-powered analytical tools such as Copilot or ChatGPT will be beneficial.
• Think-Cell experience would be advantageous.
