What is Data Engineering?

Data Engineering is the foundation behind how organisations collect, process, transform, store and use data.

Programming & Development: Python, SQL, programming fundamentals and automation.

Databases & Data Warehousing: Database development, data modelling, data structures and data warehousing concepts.

Data Pipelines & ETL: Data integration, data ingestion, transformation and automated data pipelines.

Business Intelligence & Analytics: Reporting, dashboards, data visualisation and turning data into meaningful information.

Modern Data Technologies: Exposure to cloud platforms, modern data environments and technologies used within today's data ecosystem.

You'll learn not only how to work with data, but also how to understand the business problem behind the data and develop solutions that create value.

What Can You Expect?

The 12-month programme combines learning with practical experience.

First 6 Months You'll build your technical foundation through structured training, practical exercises, projects and real-world case studies.

Following 6 Months You'll gain workplace experience and have the opportunity to apply your knowledge within a professional environment, subject to project and business requirements.

Throughout the programme, you'll have the opportunity to learn from experienced PBT Group professionals and develop both your technical and professional skills.

Minimum Academic Requirements

Applicants should have a relevant qualification such as:

· BSc Computer Science

· BSc Data Science

· BTech / relevant technology qualification

· Or another relevant data / technology-related qualification

· A good foundation in SQL, Python and Mathematics is required.

Start Date: 1 January 2027

Duration: 12 months

Location: Cape Town

Focus: Data Engineering, Business Intelligence & Data Technologies

Candidates from outside Cape Town are welcome to apply, but must be willing to relocate to Cape Town for the programme.
