Minimum Job Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent.
  • Recognised Diesel Mechanic / Earthmoving Mechanic trade qualification (Red Seal).
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as a Diesel Mechanic in a mining or heavy earthmoving environment.
  • Proven hands-on experience working on:
    • CAT Articulated Dump Trucks (ADTs)
    • CAT Dozers
    • Hitachi Excavators
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, drivetrains and electrical systems.
  • Experience with fault-finding, diagnostics, repairs and preventative maintenance on heavy earthmoving equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, hydraulic schematics and electrical diagrams.
  • Experience conducting planned maintenance, breakdown repairs and inspections.
  • Knowledge of mining equipment safety standards and safe maintenance practices.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Ability to work shifts, overtime and in a demanding mining environment.
  • Good communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills.
Advantageous: Experience with CAT diagnostic systems (e.g. CAT ET) and Hitachi diagnostic equipment.
