Fibre Technician

Job Description:

• Install, test, label, and decommission CAT5e, CAT6, and fibre cabling
• Perform fault-finding and troubleshooting on copper and fibre infrastructure using relevant testing equipment
• Configure, install, and maintain rack-mounted Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
• Provide Remote Hands and Smart Hands support, including server reboots, patching, audits, labelling, and media swaps
• Conduct basic network troubleshooting and loopback testing on copper, fibre, and SFP connections
• Support wireless and point-to-point (PTP) infrastructure requirements
• Ensure all work is completed within agreed SLAs and operational standards
• Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and administrative records
• Work closely with internal teams to maximise uptime and service delivery within a critical environment

• Minimum 3 years' experience within a data centre, cabling, or technical infrastructure environment
• Proven experience with CAT5e, CAT6, and fibre installations and testing
• Experience using fibre testing equipment and certification tools
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Basic networking knowledge
• Relevant cabling and/or product certifications
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

• BEng, BSc, BTech or National Diploma in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
