Mechanical Design Engineer Mineral Sizing

The successful candidate will be responsible for the mechanical design, development, detailing and optimisation of mineral sizing and processing equipment, working closely with manufacturing, project, electrical and site teams to deliver reliable equipment for the mining industry.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in mineral processing, screening, crushing, sizing, bulk materials handling or heavy industrial equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and develop mineral sizing and processing equipment.
• Produce detailed mechanical designs, layouts, assemblies and manufacturing drawings.
• Develop equipment from concept through detailed design, manufacture, assembly and commissioning.
• Perform mechanical design calculations and equipment sizing.
• Select appropriate mechanical components, materials, bearings, drives and ancillary equipment.
• Design and detail equipment for demanding mining and mineral processing environments.
• Prepare and maintain 3D models, assemblies, fabrication drawings and detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation.
• Review designs for manufacturability, reliability, maintainability and cost effectiveness.
• Conduct design reviews and implement engineering changes.
• Work closely with manufacturing and fabrication teams to resolve design and production issues.
• Provide technical support during assembly, installation and commissioning.
• Investigate equipment failures and implement design improvements.
• Liaise with suppliers regarding components, materials and technical specifications.
• Support project engineers and project managers with technical input.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, specifications and customer requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of existing equipment and product designs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• BEng / BSc / BTech in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 3-5 years' mechanical design engineering experience.
• Experience designing mining, mineral processing or heavy industrial equipment.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and design practices.
• Experience with 3D CAD modelling and mechanical design software.
• Ability to produce detailed manufacturing and fabrication drawings.
• Experience with mechanical design calculations.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Understanding of manufacturing, fabrication and machining processes.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical components and materials.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Valid driver's licence.
