Restaurant General Manager

A leading hospitality company is looking for an experienced General Manager with strong experience in restaurant operations, staff management, financial management and customer service to join their team in the Waterfront. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, profitability and operational efficiency. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a mature, energetic and experienced hospitality professional who can lead a diverse team and contribute to the continued growth and success of the restaurant.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the daily operations of the restaurant, ensuring smooth functioning and adherence to company standards and policies.
• Manage both front-of-house and back-of-house operations, including food preparation, customer service, inventory and stock management.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
• Recruit, train, develop and manage restaurant staff, including managers.
• Schedule and supervise staff to ensure adequate coverage and optimal performance, taking operational requirements and weather conditions into consideration.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and support to staff.
• Ensure exceptional customer service and address customer complaints promptly and professionally.
• Engage with customers to gather feedback and identify opportunities to improve service quality.
• Develop and implement initiatives to enhance customer retention and satisfaction.
• Monitor and manage the restaurant's financial performance, including budgets, sales targets and profitability.
• Analyse financial reports and implement strategies to achieve revenue and cost targets.
• Oversee inventory control, minimise waste and optimise stock levels.
• Ensure all daily financial variances are accurate, explainable and properly managed.
• Plan and execute marketing strategies to attract new customers and increase brand awareness.
• Coordinate promotional activities and special events in advance to drive sales and enhance the restaurant's reputation.
• Collaborate with the marketing team on promotional materials and social media initiatives, including Instagram.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation and service.
• Implement and monitor standard operating procedures to ensure consistency across operations.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits and address areas requiring improvement.
• Prepare and present regular reports on operational performance, financials and key business matters to senior management.
• Communicate effectively with staff, customers and senior management to ensure alignment and resolve issues.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a management position.
• Proven experience in a restaurant or hospitality management environment.
• Strong knowledge of restaurant operations and administration.
• Proven staff management and leadership experience.
• Financial management experience, including budgets, sales targets, profitability and variance analysis.
• Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Food Safety knowledge and/or training.
• Pilot system knowledge.
• Good computer literacy.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent command of the English language.
• Mature, professional and able to effectively manage a diverse team.
• Vibrant, energetic and positive personality with a strong team-player mentality.
• Ability to work 6 days per week.
