Maintenance Manager

A leading manufacturing company in Durban is looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead its maintenance team and oversee the reliability and performance of plant machinery and equipment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving a proactive maintenance culture, ensuring preventative maintenance is effectively planned and implemented, and minimising equipment downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop the maintenance team.
• Oversee all preventative and planned maintenance activities.
• Develop and implement proactive maintenance strategies.
• Ensure maximum machinery and equipment uptime.
• Manage breakdowns, repairs and maintenance schedules.
• Identify potential equipment failures and implement preventative measures.
• Ensure maintenance activities are completed efficiently and within required timeframes.
• Monitor maintenance costs, resources and performance.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance function.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and operational standards.
• Work closely with production to minimise downtime and improve operational efficiency.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering - essential.
• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Maintenance Manager - non-negotiable.
• Experience within the paper industry or manufacturing environment is essential.
• Experience working with fast-moving machinery.
• Strong knowledge of preventative and proactive maintenance.
• Proven experience leading and managing a maintenance team.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent planning and organisational abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
