Backend Software Engineer Pleno

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Backend Software Engineer Pleno based in Brazil.

As a Backend Software Engineer, you will build and evolve distributed systems designed to operate at significant scale and serve millions of users. You will contribute to the architecture and development of reliable microservices, APIs, and cloud-based solutions. The role combines hands-on coding with system design, continuous delivery, infrastructure automation, and technical problem-solving. You will work closely with Product, Design, Engineering, and customer-facing teams to translate complex needs into valuable solutions. Accountabilities:

• Collaborate on the design, development, and evolution of scalable microservices and distributed systems.
• Develop efficient and reliable APIs using REST and GraphQL.
• Write, test, instrument, document, and maintain production-quality code.
• Contribute to architecture and system-design discussions, helping define robust and scalable technical solutions.
• Participate in continuous integration and continuous delivery practices to enable frequent and reliable releases.
• Contribute to Infrastructure as Code practices and cloud-based environments.
• Work with relational databases and contribute to data modeling, queries, performance, and reliability.
• Develop scalable application logic using cloud functions and serverless technologies where appropriate.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary Product, Design, Engineering, and customer teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions that create measurable value.
• Take ownership of technical challenges, proactively identifying problems, proposing solutions, and following initiatives through to completion.
• Share technical knowledge and context with teammates, contributing to collective learning and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• Professional experience developing backend applications and distributed systems at an intermediate level.
• Experience with TypeScript and Node.js.
• Experience working with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
• Familiarity with REST and GraphQL API development.
• Practical experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices.
• Familiarity with software design patterns and their application in production systems.
• Knowledge of or interest in cloud platforms, particularly Azure and GCP.
• Familiarity with Cloud Functions or equivalent serverless technologies for implementing scalable application logic.
• Understanding of microservices architecture and modern backend development practices.
• Ability to write maintainable, testable, documented, and observable code.
• Strong ownership and autonomy, with the ability to identify problems and drive solutions without requiring constant direction.
• Collaborative mindset and willingness to share knowledge, remove blockers, and contribute to team success.
• Curiosity and commitment to continuous technical learning, with a willingness to work on unfamiliar challenges and technologies.
