Profile match
Jobgether is a Belgian recruitment platform built entirely around remote and flexible work, aggregating openings from thousands of employers that allow work from outside an office. Its matching engine ranks roles against a candidate's skills, seniority and stated preferences on location and flexibility, rather than leaving people to filter a keyword search, and it verifies how genuinely remote each posting is. The company also runs an AI screening layer that shortlists applicants for employers, and publishes research and guidance on distributed work practices alongside the job marketplace itself.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Cloud Engineering Manager based in Switzerland.

This role offers the opportunity to lead a growing engineering team responsible for modern cloud infrastructure and managed services.

You will oversee environments built around technologies such as Kubernetes and OpenStack, supporting complex distributed systems for customers worldwide.

Your leadership will help improve engineering quality, operational performance, delivery velocity, and customer satisfaction.

You will work closely with customers, product engineering teams, operations, and other stakeholders to deliver reliable cloud services.

The position combines technical understanding with people leadership, process improvement, service management, and strategic execution.

You will help establish disciplined engineering practices while ensuring teams remain focused on priorities, milestones, and measurable outcomes.

This is an ideal opportunity for a technically strong engineering leader who thrives in a globally distributed and fast-paced environment.

Accountabilities:

    • Lead and develop a growing engineering team, improving both development velocity and operational quality.
    • Establish and maintain effective engineering and operations processes that promote reliability, maintainability, and consistent delivery.
    • Define and monitor team health indicators to identify opportunities for improvement and support high-performing teams.
    • Represent the engineering team with customers, internal stakeholders, product engineering groups, operations teams, and external partners.
    • Ensure teams remain aligned with priorities, milestones, deliverables, and customer commitments.
    • Oversee managed service operations for customer environments and help ensure service-level agreements are consistently achieved.
    • Drive continuous improvement across customer deployments, engineering practices, operational processes, and service quality.
    • Support the delivery of reliable and consistent managed cloud services across customer environments worldwide.
    • Provide technical leadership and guidance when addressing complex distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and operational challenges.
    • Foster effective collaboration within globally distributed teams while maintaining clear communication and accountability.
    • Requirements:

      • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education in a technology-related field.
      • Proven professional experience in software delivery using technologies such as Python, Go, C, C++, Java, or similar, and/or experience managing technical operations teams.
      • Demonstrated professional experience with OpenStack.
      • Strong understanding of engineering practices, including testing methodologies and maintainable code quality.
      • Experience with Linux system administration; Ubuntu or Debian experience is advantageous.
      • Solid understanding of cloud topologies, technologies, and distributed systems.
      • Strong technical aptitude and the ability to understand and communicate complex infrastructure and engineering concepts.
      • Experience with agile software development methodologies and modern engineering practices.
      • Demonstrated experience working within and managing globally distributed teams.
      • Strong communication, cooperation, and stakeholder-management skills.
      • Ability to balance technical considerations, operational requirements, customer expectations, and team priorities.
      • Self-motivated and disciplined approach to working effectively in a distributed environment.
      • Willingness and ability to travel for team, company, and customer events, generally up to approximately 20% of the time.
      • Additional experience with Kubernetes, Ceph, related cloud infrastructure, Linux software engineering, or open-source technologies is valuable.
      • Benefits:

        • Fully distributed working environment.
        • Personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year.
        • Annual compensation review based on location, experience, and performance.
        • Performance-driven annual bonus or commission, where applicable.
        • Recognition and performance rewards.
        • Annual holiday leave.
        • Maternity and paternity leave.
        • Team Member Assistance Program and wellness platform.
        • Opportunities to travel to new locations and meet colleagues through in-person team events and sprints.
        • Priority Pass and travel upgrades for eligible long-haul company events.
        • Opportunity to work with modern cloud technologies, including OpenStack and Kubernetes.
        • Exposure to complex distributed systems and global customer environments.
        • Career development opportunities within a highly technical, internationally distributed engineering environment.
