Profile match
Jobgether is a Belgian recruitment platform built entirely around remote and flexible work, aggregating openings from thousands of employers that allow work from outside an office. Its matching engine ranks roles against a candidate's skills, seniority and stated preferences on location and flexibility, rather than leaving people to filter a keyword search, and it verifies how genuinely remote each posting is. The company also runs an AI screening layer that shortlists applicants for employers, and publishes research and guidance on distributed work practices alongside the job marketplace itself.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Content Governance Engineer (Java / Go) based in India.

Join a globally distributed engineering environment focused on building scalable systems that make digital content safer, more reliable, and better governed. In this role, you will design and evolve platforms that support content review, risk detection, anti-abuse measures, and policy enforcement at scale. You’ll work at the intersection of backend engineering, content operations, recommendation systems, and risk management. The position offers the opportunity to solve complex problems involving spam, fraud, low-quality content, and other forms of platform abuse. You’ll collaborate closely with product, operations, algorithm, and business teams to translate governance needs into robust technical solutions. This is an ideal opportunity for an engineer who enjoys high-impact systems, adversarial problem-solving, and fast-moving global environments.

Accountabilities

    • Design, develop, and continuously improve content governance platforms, anti-abuse tooling, and content operations systems.
    • Integrate recommendation systems with content governance capabilities to create efficient, reliable, and scalable governance pipelines.
    • Partner with governance and product teams to build capabilities for content review, risk detection, policy enforcement, and effectiveness measurement.
    • Design and implement content takedown rules while continuously evaluating their effectiveness, defending against adversarial behavior, and optimizing governance strategies.
    • Build and enhance configurable rule engines and policy platforms, supporting controlled rollouts, retrospective analysis, rule optimization, and efficient operational management.
    • Develop systematic solutions to address spam, traffic diversion, low-quality content, fraud, black/gray-market activity, and other forms of platform abuse.
    • Translate complex governance requirements into scalable, extensible backend capabilities and maintain high standards of system reliability and performance.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, operations, algorithm, and business teams to identify risks, define solutions, and deliver effective governance systems.
    • Requirements

      • Proficient in Java or Go, with strong software engineering, system design, and backend development capabilities.
      • Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservice architectures, message queues, caching technologies, and relational databases.
      • Familiarity with content governance processes, including content review, risk detection, policy enforcement, and governance effectiveness evaluation.
      • Experience with rule engines or policy platforms, with the ability to transform governance requirements into configurable and extensible technical solutions.
      • Understanding of common content-platform risks and governance approaches, combined with strong risk awareness and an adversarial mindset.
      • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across product, operations, algorithm, and business functions.
      • Experience with recommendation systems, recommendation engineering, or content distribution platforms is a strong advantage.
      • Background in content safety, anti-fraud, risk control, or defense against black/gray-market activity is preferred.
      • Experience building large-scale content governance platforms, rule engines, or policy operations systems is highly valued.
      • Familiarity with applying machine learning models to content review, risk detection, or recommendation governance is a plus.
      • Ability to work autonomously, adapt to rapidly evolving priorities, and take ownership of technically complex initiatives.
      • Benefits

        • Competitive salary and company benefits.
        • Fully remote, work-from-home arrangement, with the exact setup potentially varying according to business and role requirements.
        • Opportunity to contribute to large-scale, globally impactful technology and governance systems.
        • Collaboration with experienced, international engineering and product professionals.
        • Flat, user-focused organizational structure with significant autonomy.
        • Fast-paced environment offering exposure to technically challenging and unique projects.
        • Career growth opportunities and support for continuous learning and professional development.
        • Opportunity to work at the intersection of backend engineering, content safety, risk management, recommendation systems, and emerging technologies.
        • Inclusive workplace committed to diversity and equal opportunity.
