Jobgether is a Belgian recruitment platform built entirely around remote and flexible work, aggregating openings from thousands of employers that allow work from outside an office. Its matching engine ranks roles against a candidate's skills, seniority and stated preferences on location and flexibility, rather than leaving people to filter a keyword search, and it verifies how genuinely remote each posting is. The company also runs an AI screening layer that shortlists applicants for employers, and publishes research and guidance on distributed work practices alongside the job marketplace itself.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a DERMS Intermediate Solutions Specialist based in Canada.

This role combines energy-sector expertise, software engineering, and client-focused solution delivery to support the growing adoption of distributed energy resources.

You will help utility clients understand emerging DER challenges and translate their business needs into practical technical solutions.

The position spans requirements management, solution design, configuration, custom development, testing, deployment, and implementation.

You will work with technologies including APIs, microservices, scripting, enterprise software, cloud platforms, and full-stack development.

The role also involves analyzing distribution network data, automating workflows, supporting acceptance testing, and troubleshooting complex technical issues.

You will collaborate closely with clients, project managers, technical leads, development teams, and other stakeholders throughout project delivery.

This is an opportunity to become a trusted technical advisor while contributing to innovative solutions shaping the future of energy and utility operations.

Accountabilities:

    • Engage directly with utility clients to understand the impact of distributed energy resources on distribution systems and translate business needs into effective DER management and planning solutions.
    • Lead requirements management activities by eliciting, documenting, validating, and maintaining complete requirements that can be traced through solution designs, acceptance criteria, and QA test cases.
    • Define project goals, objectives, technical functionality, success criteria, solution diagrams, and client-specific requirements while mapping business needs to available product capabilities.
    • Collaborate with Technical Leads, Solution Specialists, Project Managers, development teams, and other stakeholders to design and implement solutions that meet client use cases and technical requirements.
    • Deploy solutions into client environments and prepare, modify, and validate input data such as network models, load and generation forecasts, planning scenarios, and generation cost information.
    • Develop scripts and automation to process solution data, validate CIM distribution network models, support power-flow validation, and streamline recurring solution processes.
    • Lead the design and development of custom adapters, connectors, APIs, and microservices required to integrate the DERMS solution with client environments and existing systems.
    • Apply full-stack development capabilities across backend services, middleware, and presentation layers, incorporating appropriate UI/UX considerations when delivering custom integrated solutions.
    • Collaborate with development and service engineering teams throughout delivery to ensure custom solutions meet defined requirements, quality standards, timelines, and budget expectations.
    • Lead project simulations and client-specific testing activities, including use-case validation, factory acceptance testing, and site acceptance testing, while documenting and troubleshooting software defects.
    • Respond to client inquiries, bugs, and product ideas, coordinating issues with product teams and ensuring appropriate tickets, documentation, and follow-up actions are maintained.
    • Analyze project data and results, automate workflows using available APIs, report outcomes, and present findings and recommendations to clients, project partners, and stakeholders.
    • Support AWS cloud deployments for client or internal environments, leveraging hands-on cloud implementation experience to help deliver reliable solutions.
    • Define user acceptance testing processes, test cases, progress metrics, training materials, and user documentation, and train utility clients and end users on solution capabilities.
    • Work with Project Managers to standardize internal and external processes, identify project delivery risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and contribute to continuous improvement across the solutions practice.
    • Support sales activities when required by providing technical demonstrations and identifying potential future opportunities based on client needs and project interactions.
    • Requirements

      • Hold a bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline, ideally with a focus on power systems, or possess equivalent relevant professional experience.
      • Have at least 2 years of relevant professional experience and strong knowledge of the electricity industry, with an understanding of the challenges and opportunities created by distributed energy resources.
      • Demonstrate strong analytical capabilities, particularly in requirements elicitation, requirements management, solution analysis, and translating business needs into technical specifications.
      • Understand how to trace requirements through solution design, specifications, acceptance criteria, and testing plans or cases.
      • Have experience automating processes and using or developing scripts to support software solutions, data processing, workflows, and operational efficiency.
      • Bring software development experience and a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, including integrating custom solutions into enterprise products.
      • Be familiar with emerging energy-industry trends and utility technologies, particularly DER management, distribution planning, IT, SCADA, and asset management.
      • Have experience with enterprise software development, backend development, scripting, Java or Python, and database connectivity, with the ability to understand and work across integrated technical environments.
      • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to evaluate multiple approaches, configure solutions using existing product functionality, investigate technical details, and creatively resolve complex client challenges.
      • Be highly collaborative, demonstrating a team-oriented mindset and the ability to work effectively with technical teams, project managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
      • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to audiences with different levels of technical expertise.
      • Be strongly client-focused, comfortable engaging directly with utility customers, understanding their needs, and developing clear user stories and technical solutions that support their success.
      • Demonstrate strong execution skills, consistently delivering high-quality work within project timelines while managing multiple priorities.
      • Bring a growth mindset, genuine curiosity, and willingness to learn new technologies and software quickly with limited documentation or guidance.
      • Demonstrate an interest in emerging tools and technologies and the ability to adapt technical approaches as client and industry needs evolve.
      • Benefits

        • Annual base salary range of CAD $73,600-$110,400, with the specific offer influenced by experience, education, skills, and other relevant factors.
        • Eligibility for a 10% Annual Incentive Plan (AIP) bonus.
        • Fully remote position.
        • Opportunity to work on innovative energy and utility technology supporting the integration and management of distributed energy resources.
        • Exposure to cloud technologies, enterprise software, APIs, microservices, automation, full-stack development, and advanced DERMS solutions.
        • Opportunity to work directly with utility clients and develop trusted-advisor expertise across technical solution delivery.
        • Professional growth through collaboration with multidisciplinary technical, engineering, project management, and solutions teams.
        • No relocation assistance is provided for this position.
