Profile match
Jobgether is a Belgian recruitment platform built entirely around remote and flexible work, aggregating openings from thousands of employers that allow work from outside an office. Its matching engine ranks roles against a candidate's skills, seniority and stated preferences on location and flexibility, rather than leaving people to filter a keyword search, and it verifies how genuinely remote each posting is. The company also runs an AI screening layer that shortlists applicants for employers, and publishes research and guidance on distributed work practices alongside the job marketplace itself.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director - Cyber Operations based in Australia.

This leadership role will oversee a multidisciplinary Cyber Operations function supporting a dynamic, globally connected organization across the APAC region. You’ll lead teams responsible for cyber threat intelligence, security operations, incident response, and detection engineering. As a key security leader, you’ll help strengthen resilience against emerging threats while ensuring effective day-to-day operational performance. You’ll act as an Incident Commander during major security events, making confident decisions and coordinating response efforts under pressure. The role combines strategic planning, technical oversight, stakeholder engagement, and people leadership. You’ll also shape team development, improve security capabilities, and align cyber priorities with broader business objectives.

Accountabilities:

You’ll provide strategic and operational leadership across Cyber Operations, balancing immediate security needs with long-term improvements to capabilities, processes, and team performance.

    • Lead multidisciplinary cyber functions across APAC, including threat intelligence, SOC operations, incident response, and detection engineering.
    • Serve as Incident Commander during major security incidents, coordinating teams and driving timely, effective response and recovery.
    • Oversee daily operations, including workload distribution, service levels, scheduling, and operational performance.
    • Coach and develop team members through regular feedback, mentoring, and opportunities for technical and career growth.
    • Communicate cybersecurity risks, incidents, trends, and recommendations clearly to executives and business stakeholders.
    • Monitor KPIs and operational metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and align performance with business priorities.
    • Establish quarterly objectives, allocate resources, and prioritize initiatives based on the evolving APAC threat landscape.
    • Partner with security and business teams on security tooling, integrations, technical initiatives, and capability improvements.
    • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
    • Requirements:

The ideal candidate will bring substantial cybersecurity experience, proven leadership capability, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to connect security strategy with business outcomes.

      • Typically 8+ years of cybersecurity experience, including 5+ years in a leadership capacity, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and certifications.
      • Proven experience across SOC operations, incident response, cyber threat intelligence, detection engineering, or related cybersecurity disciplines.
      • Strong knowledge of SIEM, EDR, NDR, cloud security environments, and modern security operations practices.
      • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and standards such as MITRE ATT&CK, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and ISO 27001.
      • Demonstrated ability to make clear, confident decisions and communicate effectively during high-pressure security situations.
      • Strong strategic thinking and the ability to translate technical priorities into measurable business outcomes.
      • Proven people leadership skills, with a focus on accountability, collaboration, coaching, and continuous improvement.
      • A growth mindset and genuine commitment to staying current with an evolving cybersecurity and threat landscape.
      • Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
      • Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, GIAC certifications, OSCP, or Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect Expert are advantageous.
      • Benefits:

        • Fully remote position, with the flexibility to work from anywhere in Australia.
        • Flexible approach to when and where you work, supporting work-life balance.
        • Opportunities for professional development, learning, and career advancement.
        • Access to concerts, live events, and entertainment-related employee perks.
        • Comprehensive benefits supporting health and well-being.
        • Wellness programs and mental health support.
        • Volunteer days and opportunities to contribute to the community.
        • Inclusive and diverse working environment where different perspectives and backgrounds are valued.
        • Opportunities to work with talented professionals and develop both professionally and personally.
