Engineering Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Engineering Manager based in India.

This is a senior engineering leadership role responsible for the technical execution of a dedicated product pod.

You’ll act as the technical counterpart to the product owner, translating business priorities into scalable, maintainable software.

The role combines hands-on technical leadership with planning, delivery management, architecture, and engineering mentorship.

You’ll help teams identify risks early, challenge technical assumptions, and establish strong engineering practices.

Working across Product, QA, Design, DevOps, and other functions, you’ll remove blockers and enable predictable, high-quality releases.

Accountabilities

• Own engineering delivery for the product pod, including planning, estimation, prioritization, execution, and release coordination.
• Partner with the product owner to review product requirements, identify gaps and edge cases, assess technical risks, and improve readiness before development begins.
• Lead technical discussions, challenge assumptions, evaluate implementation approaches, and guide architecture and system-design decisions.
• Balance delivery speed, product priorities, engineering quality, scalability, and technical debt to ensure predictable execution.
• Establish and reinforce engineering best practices covering code reviews, automated testing, documentation, observability, security, coding standards, and CI/CD.
• Drive production quality through root-cause analysis, incident resolution, and measures that prevent recurring defects and technical issues.
• Mentor engineers and strengthen technical discipline, ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement across the team.
• Collaborate with QA, Design, DevOps, and other stakeholders to remove blockers and ensure successful product releases.
• Conduct technical research and evaluate technologies, approaches, and solutions that can support the pod's product goals.
• Contribute to the development of a strong engineering culture focused on quality, delivery predictability, and real customer impact.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2 years leading engineering teams or technical delivery.
• Strong experience building and delivering modern Enterprise SaaS products.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, system design, and scalable engineering practices.
• Experience with cloud-native application development, preferably using AWS.
• Strong knowledge of modern software development practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, and version control.
• Understanding of Agile product development methodologies and experience working in cross-functional product environments.
• Ability to review code and technical designs and provide clear, constructive guidance.
• Strong planning, estimation, delivery management, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
• Ability to balance business priorities with engineering quality and long-term maintainability.
• Experience leading cross-functional product teams, working in high-growth product environments, or developing secure software is advantageous.
• Familiarity with observability, production monitoring, incident management, and mentoring senior engineers or technical leads is a plus.
• Experience with AI-assisted software development tools and workflows is desirable.
• Curiosity, proactivity, knowledge-sharing, and confidence to challenge and be challenged in a collaborative environment.
• Experience with Ruby, Node.js, or React.js is considered an additional advantage.
