This role offers the opportunity to lead a team building modern, automated solutions for complex business operations at global scale. You will help transform internal infrastructure and business workloads into reliable, productized services running on Kubernetes. As an engineering leader, you will combine people management and technical leadership, guiding engineers while remaining close enough to the technology to contribute directly. You will shape software architecture, engineering standards, testing practices, documentation, and delivery processes. Working in a highly distributed environment, you will collaborate with engineers and leaders across regions and help foster a strong culture of quality and continuous improvement. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys developing people, embracing new technologies, and applying software engineering practices to improve how infrastructure is operated.
Accountabilities
- Lead a regional engineering team focused on productizing business workloads and delivering reliable, automated operations on Kubernetes.
- Build, manage, and grow a high-performing team of engineers through coaching, mentoring, regular feedback, and career development.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership and contribute directly to engineering goals while maintaining an effective balance between management and technical contribution.
- Establish and maintain sound software architecture, engineering practices, testing standards, documentation, and overall software quality.
- Set realistic delivery schedules based on thoughtful estimates and continuously improve planning through feedback and iteration.
- Set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, technical leaders, and external stakeholders to ensure effective delivery and alignment.
- Promote modern agile software development practices and encourage continuous improvement across the team.
- Foster a healthy, collaborative engineering culture built around technical excellence, ownership, learning, and high-quality delivery.
- Participate actively in the broader engineering leadership team and collaborate with other leaders on organizational strategy and execution.
- Support a globally distributed engineering environment while working primarily from home and traveling internationally for internal and external events, with travel of up to 20%.
- Proven experience in engineering leadership, including a track record of developing, mentoring, and growing strong engineering teams.
- Strong software engineering background with substantial Python development experience.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes operations, with a solid understanding of modern cloud-native infrastructure.
- Experience developing Python frameworks and a strong understanding of the importance of stable, maintainable, and consumable APIs.
- Strong knowledge and passion for software development, engineering practices, and delivering high-quality production software.
- Experience working within an agile software development environment and applying modern development methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to balance technical contribution with people management and organizational leadership.
- Ability to make sound technical decisions, challenge existing approaches, and guide engineers toward effective solutions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to set expectations and collaborate effectively across distributed teams.
