This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr Product Designer based in United States.
This is an opportunity to shape AI-native products designed for complex, mission-critical environments. You’ll own ambiguous design challenges from discovery through delivery, working across multiple concurrent projects with significant autonomy. The role focuses heavily on defining intuitive interaction patterns for agent-driven and conversational experiences. You’ll collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to turn complex workflows and data into clear, usable experiences. You’ll also help evolve a shared design system, establish prototypes, and raise the quality bar through thoughtful UX reviews. As a senior individual contributor, you’ll influence product direction while mentoring designers and strengthening design practices across the organization.
Accountabilities
- Own ambiguous, loosely defined product design problems from discovery through delivery across multiple concurrent projects, operating with minimal direction.
- Act as the primary design partner on engagements, shaping the user experience during project kickoff and transitioning ownership to delivery teams as work matures.
- Define interaction patterns for AI agents and conversational experiences, including agent interactions, response structures, chained actions, generated interfaces, and error states.
- Extend and strengthen the design system and component library, creating reusable patterns that support efficient collaboration between Product, Design, and Engineering.
- Partner with Product Managers to establish design prototypes and frameworks using Figma, AI-assisted tools, or code that project teams can build upon.
- Lead UX reviews of features, agent responses, generated UI, layouts, and other product experiences to ensure a high-quality experience before release.
- Use workflows, journey maps, and service mapping to understand user needs, support design rationale, and align cross-functional stakeholders.
- Help shape project scope, timelines, priorities, and cross-functional alignment in collaboration with Product Management, Engineering, and Customer Success.
- Mentor less experienced designers, facilitate constructive critique, and contribute to raising the overall standard of product design.
- Apply accessibility and interaction-design best practices consistently across product experiences.
- 5-8 years of professional product design experience with a demonstrated history of shipping thoughtful, high-quality digital products.
- A strong portfolio featuring at least three case studies or highlighted projects that demonstrate complex problem-solving, iteration, cross-functional collaboration, and measurable design impact.
- Advanced proficiency in Figma, including component-driven architecture, variables, and interactive prototyping.
- Proven ability to take ownership of ambiguous design challenges without relying on fully defined specifications.
- Strong interaction, UX, UI, visual, and accessibility design fundamentals, with attention to quality across every stage of the user experience.
- Experience extending, maintaining, and improving design systems, including reusable components, patterns, governance, and documentation.
- Ability to use workflows, journey mapping, service mapping, and relevant design principles to develop and clearly communicate design rationale.
- Comfortable operating independently as the design lead on projects while maintaining strong collaboration with product and engineering partners.
- Ability to reflect critically on previous work, communicate lessons learned, and explain how you would approach past design challenges differently.
- Experience designing AI-native, agentic, conversational, or other emerging technology products is highly valued.
- Experience with complex, data-intensive enterprise, analytics, or mission-critical products where interfaces must make sophisticated information understandable is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with AI-powered design and prototyping tools such as Claude and Figma Make.
- Working knowledge of front-end concepts such as components, design tokens, states, and responsive behavior, sufficient to prototype effectively and establish technical direction with engineers.
- Experience working across multiple teams as a shared design resource is beneficial.
- Experience in defense, government, or critical infrastructure environments is a plus.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance is preferred where applicable.
- Strong communication, stakeholder-management, critique, and mentoring skills.
- Highly competitive compensation package.
- Meaningful equity participation.
- Fully paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents.
- Unlimited paid time off.
- Flexible work arrangements with remote flexibility.
- Hybrid work options for team members located in the Los Angeles or Washington, DC areas.
- Meaningful ownership and autonomy from day one.
- Opportunities for career growth within a rapidly scaling AI-focused environment.
- Opportunity to work on technically challenging products serving demanding, mission-critical environments.
- Collaborative environment alongside experienced scientists, strategists, engineers, and designers.
