Freelance Web Developer - Wordpress

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Freelance Web Developer - Wordpress based in Brazil.

This is a fully remote, hourly freelance opportunity for an experienced WordPress Web Developer.

You will build and maintain high-quality websites for internal initiatives and a diverse range of client projects.

The role combines custom WordPress development with frontend and backend expertise, performance optimization, and technical SEO.

You will transform creative concepts and designs into responsive, scalable, and pixel-perfect digital experiences.

Your work will also contribute to website security, reliability, accessibility, and long-term maintainability.

Working with remote marketing, design, and client teams, you will manage multiple projects while delivering polished solutions within tight deadlines.

Accountabilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain custom WordPress websites, ensuring strong performance, responsiveness, technical SEO, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Develop and customize WordPress themes and plugins from scratch to deliver functionality aligned with specific business, campaign, and client requirements.
• Configure and optimize page builders such as Elementor and Gutenberg while maintaining scalable and maintainable website architectures.
• Translate creative concepts and UI/UX designs from tools such as Figma or Adobe XD into pixel-perfect, responsive web interfaces.
• Collaborate with marketing strategists, UX/UI designers, and clients to understand requirements and deliver effective digital experiences.
• Perform ongoing website maintenance, including WordPress core updates, security patching, server-side optimization, and routine backups.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical, performance, and compatibility issues across websites, browsers, and devices.
• Manage MySQL databases and implement caching and other performance strategies to improve speed, stability, and uptime.
• Integrate third-party APIs and services while ensuring secure and reliable data exchange.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of professional experience as a WordPress Web Developer, with a strong portfolio demonstrating live, high-quality custom WordPress websites.
• Advanced proficiency in PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and MySQL, with a strong understanding of WordPress architecture and development practices.
• Extensive experience developing and customizing WordPress themes and plugins, including work with page builders such as Elementor or Gutenberg.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs and services into WordPress websites and managing database-driven web applications.
• Strong understanding of web security best practices, mobile-first development, responsive design, caching, performance optimization, and technical SEO.
• Solid UI/UX knowledge and the ability to translate design specifications into accurate, functional, and visually polished interfaces.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues and implement effective solutions.
• Excellent organizational, time-tracking, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working effectively with fully remote marketing, design, development, and client teams.
• Previous experience working with marketing agencies, brands, or web development studios is an advantage.
