Profile match
Jobgether is a Belgian recruitment platform built entirely around remote and flexible work, aggregating openings from thousands of employers that allow work from outside an office. Its matching engine ranks roles against a candidate's skills, seniority and stated preferences on location and flexibility, rather than leaving people to filter a keyword search, and it verifies how genuinely remote each posting is. The company also runs an AI screening layer that shortlists applicants for employers, and publishes research and guidance on distributed work practices alongside the job marketplace itself.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Game Developer-Console Porting based in Spain.

Join a remote game development team focused on bringing completed indie games to PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

The primary focus of this role is console porting, adapting existing games to meet platform-specific technical and certification requirements.

You’ll also contribute hands-on development work, including gameplay features, debugging, optimization, and technical improvements.

The role offers the opportunity to work across game engines, codebases, assets, and console-specific challenges.

You’ll collaborate with designers, artists, indie developers, and other team members to deliver polished, console-ready builds.

Your work will directly support the publishing pipeline and help bring distinctive indie titles to console audiences.

This is a strong fit for a developer who enjoys console gaming, solving technical challenges, and working collaboratively in a remote environment.

Accountabilities

    • Port and adapt existing indie-developed games for PlayStation and Xbox, ensuring they meet platform-specific technical, performance, and certification requirements.
    • Develop and implement gameplay features, mechanics, interactive experiences, and other technical improvements alongside core porting responsibilities.
    • Work with GameMaker Studio 2, Unreal Engine, Unity, or similar game development platforms to build, adapt, maintain, and troubleshoot projects.
    • Translate game concepts and technical requirements into functional, engaging, and reliable gameplay experiences.
    • Write clean, maintainable, structured code and contribute effectively to existing codebases created by other developers.
    • Debug, test, and resolve gameplay, technical, performance, and console-specific issues throughout the porting process.
    • Collaborate with designers, artists, indie development partners, and other contributors to deliver high-quality console builds.
    • Integrate and troubleshoot game assets, animations, audio, UI elements, and other required components.
    • Optimize games for console hardware, addressing performance and platform-specific technical considerations.
    • Review and evaluate games or code produced by other developers and provide clear, constructive technical and design feedback.
    • Participate in testing, iteration, refinement, and certification-related updates based on feedback and platform requirements.
    • Maintain clear documentation and provide regular progress updates on porting and development activities.
    • Requirements:

      • Proven experience porting or adapting games for console platforms such as PlayStation and/or Xbox, or strong game development experience with the ability to learn console porting and certification workflows.
      • Genuine familiarity with PlayStation consoles is required, while Xbox familiarity is preferred; active console gaming experience is a strong advantage.
      • Experience with PlayStation Partners or ID@Xbox developer programs is preferred but not essential.
      • Professional or hands-on experience with GameMaker Studio 2, Unreal Engine, Unity, or a comparable game development platform.
      • Familiarity with GML, C#, and/or Python, which are commonly used within the development environment.
      • Solid understanding of gameplay mechanics, game systems, debugging, testing, and performance optimization.
      • Experience taking game features from initial concept through development, testing, iteration, and refinement.
      • Ability to work confidently with existing projects and codebases, including those created by other developers.
      • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills, particularly when working through platform-specific issues.
      • Good communication and collaboration skills for working effectively within a distributed remote team.
      • Experience reviewing games or code created by other developers, with the ability to provide practical and constructive feedback.
      • A portfolio, GitHub profile, playable game, or examples of previous game development or console-porting work is highly desirable.
      • Benefits:

        • Remote, part-time working opportunity.
        • Work roster aligned with 9 AM-1 PM Sydney time.
        • Collaborative and supportive remote team environment.
        • Opportunity to work on a range of indie games progressing through a console publishing and porting pipeline.
        • Hands-on experience bringing games to PlayStation and Xbox audiences.
        • Exposure to console-specific development, certification, optimization, debugging, and technical problem-solving.
        • Opportunity to collaborate with game developers, designers, artists, and other creative and technical professionals.
