This is a senior engineering leadership opportunity focused on building and scaling the software infrastructure behind large-scale physical device operations.
You will own the technical strategy for inventory, logistics, warehouse, distribution, and repair-management platforms supporting millions of devices.
The role combines hands-on architectural leadership with responsibility for a distributed engineering organization of approximately 25 people.
You will work at the intersection of backend engineering, distributed systems, fintech, and operational technology in a rapidly expanding global environment.
Your work will directly improve data visibility, reliability, and operational discipline across multiple markets.
You will also develop engineering leaders, establish scalable standards, and partner closely with business and operational stakeholders.

Accountabilities
- Own the technical strategy, architecture, and long-term evolution of software supporting inventory, logistics, warehouse operations, device distribution, and repair management.
- Lead an engineering organization of approximately 25 professionals across engineering management, QA, SRE, and Data Engineering, with scope to grow the organization beyond 30 members.
- Drive the platformisation of supply chain and inventory systems so operational data remains visible, reliable, consistent, and trustworthy across millions of devices.
- Design and oversee scalable backend and distributed-system solutions capable of supporting large physical device fleets across multiple markets.
- Establish architecture standards, engineering processes, quality metrics, and technical practices that strengthen reliability and data integrity.
- Bridge operational requirements and technology delivery by translating complex business processes into disciplined, scalable software solutions.
- Partner closely with business, product, and operational stakeholders to understand requirements, resolve challenges, and deliver technology aligned with organizational goals.
- Hire, mentor, and develop engineering managers and senior engineers while building a high-performing, motivated, and scalable leadership structure.
- Promote strong engineering fundamentals, systemisation, operational discipline, and continuous improvement across teams.
- Maintain a strong focus on customer outcomes by addressing root causes and designing systems that solve recurring operational challenges.
- Provide technical direction during periods of rapid expansion, proactively identifying risks and ensuring engineering decisions support international scale.
- Foster a culture of ownership, candour, integrity, collaboration, and constructive technical debate.
- 10-15 years of overall software engineering experience, including at least 5 years leading engineering teams through significant growth or transformation.
- At least 5 years of hands-on, production-level experience writing and shipping Java code as a practicing engineer.
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing engineering managers and leading organizations through multiple layers of engineering leadership.
- Proven experience managing and developing engineering organizations of 20+ members.
- Deep hands-on experience building supply chain, inventory, warehouse, logistics, or physical device-management software at scale.
- Demonstrated experience designing and operating systems that manage hundreds of thousands of physical devices, inventory units, or more.
- Strong backend engineering expertise, particularly with data-intensive and distributed systems.
- Strong system design and architecture capabilities, with experience building reliable platforms at significant scale.
- Experience in fintech, payments, financial services, or another regulated environment, with an understanding of operational and data-integrity requirements.
- Strong understanding of how physical devices and inventory move through complex operational lifecycles, including distribution, provisioning, maintenance, repair, returns, or related workflows.
- Excellent stakeholder-management skills and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes for non-technical leaders.
- Product-minded approach to engineering, with the ability to identify operational problems and develop scalable technology solutions.
- Strong leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams, develop managers, and create clarity across complex organizations.
- Customer-focused mindset, emphasizing root-cause resolution and measurable user and business outcomes.
