Jobgether is a Belgian recruitment platform built entirely around remote and flexible work, aggregating openings from thousands of employers that allow work from outside an office. Its matching engine ranks roles against a candidate's skills, seniority and stated preferences on location and flexibility, rather than leaving people to filter a keyword search, and it verifies how genuinely remote each posting is. The company also runs an AI screening layer that shortlists applicants for employers, and publishes research and guidance on distributed work practices alongside the job marketplace itself.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Legal Content Director based in United States.

This is a mission-driven leadership role focused on making complex legal information clear, accessible, accurate, and actionable for people seeking justice.

You will lead a five-person legal content team while shaping the strategy and governance behind a large body of digital legal resources.

The role combines legal expertise, content strategy, people leadership, knowledge management, and cross-functional collaboration.

You will use user research, performance data, and emerging technologies to improve how legal information is created, discovered, maintained, and delivered.

Working closely with product, community engagement, leadership, legal aid partners, and technical stakeholders, you will help turn complex legal knowledge into practical digital tools.

This is an opportunity to influence statewide access-to-justice initiatives while building scalable and sustainable content practices.

Accountabilities

    • Develop and execute legal content strategy: Create and implement content strategies aligned with organizational priorities and user needs, using research, performance data, and other evidence to identify content gaps, measure impact, and establish improvement priorities.
    • Lead content governance and knowledge management: Establish and maintain standards, workflows, roles, and decision-making processes for creating, reviewing, publishing, updating, reusing, evaluating, and retiring legal content.
    • Maintain content quality and accessibility: Ensure legal resources meet high standards for accuracy, readability, accessibility, usability, cultural responsiveness, consistency, and effective content discovery.
    • Manage the Legal Content Team: Set goals, priorities, work plans, and performance expectations; supervise, coach, develop, and evaluate five content professionals while coordinating volunteers and contractors when applicable.
    • Oversee production and capacity: Allocate team resources across ongoing publishing responsibilities and strategic initiatives, maintain direct responsibility for an appropriate portfolio of published legal content, and manage the team budget and resource recommendations.
    • Drive continuous improvement: Monitor legal, policy, court, and program developments; evaluate content performance; recommend improvements to tools and processes; and support adoption of new content models, technologies, and ways of working.
    • Advance SEO and content discovery: Apply and develop effective search engine optimization (SEO), generative engine optimization (GEO), and other content-discovery practices.
    • Collaborate across functions: Partner with product, community engagement, leadership, operations, legal aid organizations, subject-matter experts, and technical teams to integrate legal content into products, structured knowledge resources, and service-delivery systems.
    • Support research and product development: Participate in user research and usability testing and ensure legal content, information architecture, and product experiences effectively address user needs.
    • Represent the organization externally: Participate in statewide access-to-justice initiatives, including Illinois Supreme Court Access to Justice Commission forms subcommittees, and contribute legal-content expertise to grants, fundraising, and other organizational priorities.
    • Requirements

      • Legal qualification: Active Illinois law license, or the ability to become an active Illinois attorney.
      • Professional experience: At least 7 years of experience in digital content publishing, knowledge management, legal content technology, or a closely related field, along with at least 5 years of experience supervising staff, volunteers, or contractors.
      • Legal and public-interest background: Experience working in or with legal aid, access-to-justice, public-interest legal services, or another mission-driven legal environment is required; direct legal aid practice experience is preferred.
      • Content strategy and governance: Demonstrated experience developing content workflows, managing content management systems, and implementing content governance, knowledge governance, or comparable information-management practices.
      • Legal communication: Ability to distill complex legal and technical concepts into clear, understandable, and actionable resources for diverse audiences.
      • Analytics and optimization: Experience using Google Analytics or similar tools to evaluate content performance, with knowledge of or willingness to develop expertise in SEO and GEO.
      • Structured knowledge: Working knowledge of structured content, metadata, taxonomies, information architecture, or related approaches for making knowledge reusable across systems; experience with ontologies, knowledge bases, knowledge graphs, provenance, versioning, or legal-change monitoring is a plus.
      • Cross-functional leadership: Proven ability to lead complex initiatives involving stakeholders outside your direct reporting structure, clarify roles and decision rights, build collaborative processes, and resolve competing priorities.
      • Technology proficiency: Strong computer and software skills, including Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, internet and mobile technologies, with the ability to quickly learn new platforms. Experience with Drupal and legal technology is preferred.
      • Change management: Experience helping teams adopt new tools, processes, responsibilities, or working methods.
      • Communication and collaboration: Strong interpersonal, written, organizational, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and nontechnical colleagues.
      • Additional strengths: Familiarity with responsible generative AI or retrieval-based systems for legal information, experience with multi-organization initiatives and shared governance, and Spanish proficiency are desirable.
      • Work authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
      • Benefits

        • Salary: $94,000-$104,000 annually, depending on experience and other factors.
        • Health coverage: Medical and dental insurance.
        • Insurance protection: Life insurance plus short-term and long-term disability coverage.
        • Flexible spending: Health and dependent-care flexible spending accounts.
        • Paid time off: 15 paid days off and 15 holidays during the first calendar year of employment.
        • Retirement: 403(b) retirement plan, with a required employer contribution of 1% of salary monthly.
        • Flexible workplace: Primarily remote work within Illinois, supporting wellness and work-life balance.
        • Mission-driven environment: An opportunity to contribute to improving access to legal information and justice, particularly for communities facing barriers to legal services.
