This role will help drive business growth across Federal, Department of Defense, and commercial markets.
You will identify, qualify, shape, and capture new technology opportunities while developing long-term customer relationships.
The position offers the opportunity to engage with government decision-makers, acquisition organizations, industry partners, and contractors.
You will work across the full business development lifecycle, from early opportunity identification through capture, proposal support, and contract transition.
Working closely with leadership and internal teams, you will turn customer needs and market intelligence into actionable growth strategies.
The role combines strategic thinking, relationship management, competitive analysis, and hands-on opportunity development in a dynamic environment.
This is a remote position requiring at least 25% travel across the United States.
Accountabilities
- Develop and execute business development strategies that support organizational growth objectives across Federal, DoD, and commercial markets.
- Identify, qualify, forecast, and pursue new business opportunities across tactical, operational, and strategic levels.
- Shape customer requirements early in the acquisition cycle to align potential opportunities with available capabilities and solutions.
- Manage the business development lifecycle, including opportunity identification, qualification, capture strategy, proposal support, and contract transition.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with government customers, DoD and Federal decision-makers, acquisition offices, industry partners, systems integrators, prime contractors, and subcontractors.
- Monitor government portals, notices, solicitations, and market developments to identify opportunities suitable for Go/No-Go evaluation.
- Support capture planning and execution for operational and strategic opportunities, including both small- and large-scale pursuits.
- Develop and present strategic growth opportunities supported by market, customer, and competitive analysis.
- Identify emerging market trends and strategic inflection points that could support expansion into new or non-traditional business areas.
- Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to develop business cases and cost-effective solutions aligned with customer needs.
- Contribute to improvements in CRM, formal capture, proposal, and other business development processes.
- Maintain regular communication with leadership through weekly updates, opportunity forecasts, and progress reports.
- Strengthen relationships with both existing and prospective customers to support long-term growth and customer success.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 5 years of experience working within the Federal IT industry.
- Demonstrated ability to establish, develop, and maintain strong customer relationships within Federal and government markets.
- Existing relationships within relevant target accounts and familiarity with Federal IT customers and acquisition organizations.
- Experience translating technical capabilities into customer-focused growth opportunities.
- Experience supporting capture planning and execution across tactical, operational, and strategic pursuits.
- Demonstrated success contributing to or capturing DoD contracts, preferably within the information technology sector.
- Strong knowledge of Federal acquisition processes, including POM processes and contracting vehicles such as IDIQs.
- Experience working collaboratively with prime Federal contractors, subcontractors, industry partners, and systems integrators.
- Strong business development, opportunity shaping, market analysis, and competitive assessment capabilities.
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate market conditions, customer requirements, and competitive landscapes.
- Ability to develop business cases and strategic approaches for future growth and market entry.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities.
