This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Network Engineer - Network Management Systems (NMS) based in United States.
This role supports the design, development, deployment, and operation of network management systems for a large-scale enterprise environment. You will help maintain and evolve monitoring and performance-management tools supporting a WAN with more than 5,000 network devices. The position combines engineering, operations, troubleshooting, system integration, and technical documentation. You will work closely with customers, operations teams, engineering groups, and technology vendors to ensure monitoring capabilities evolve with network requirements. The role requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to restore critical monitoring and reporting services when issues arise. You will also contribute to architecture decisions, tool customization, automation, and integration across complex infrastructure. This is a remote position, with preference for candidates in the National Capital Region who can travel onsite when necessary.
Accountabilities:
- Provide network management systems expertise across a large enterprise network environment.
- Architect, design, develop, deploy, operate, and maintain network management systems and performance-monitoring tools.
- Develop, enhance, tune, and maintain a network management tool suite supporting a WAN with more than 5,000 network devices.
- Work with customers, operations teams, and engineering teams to gather requirements and translate them into effective monitoring and management solutions.
- Evolve network management tools as network architecture, technology, and operational requirements change.
- Support the development and maintenance of monitoring, reporting, performance-management, and configuration-management capabilities.
- Troubleshoot network management system and application issues and restore failed monitoring or reporting services.
- Provide operational and incident support for network management platforms.
- Develop technical project documentation covering current and future system architecture and design.
- Translate stakeholder requirements into technical architectures, system designs, and implementation plans.
- Customize and integrate network management tools with existing infrastructure, applications, and operational systems.
- Support the deployment, development, and maintenance of servers and applications in virtualized environments.
- Work with technology vendors to understand new products, capabilities, upgrades, and integration requirements.
- Maintain vendor relationships and help maximize the value and effectiveness of network management tools.
- Monitor the performance, reliability, and effectiveness of NMS platforms and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with network engineers and other technical teams to investigate complex infrastructure issues and develop solutions.
- Support ongoing operational improvements across monitoring, reporting, automation, and network management processes.
- Participate in evening change-request windows and provide after-hours on-call support when required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent relevant professional experience in place of formal education.
- 5+ years of experience supporting, maintaining, and evolving distributed enterprise network management systems.
- 5+ years of operations experience supporting NMS tools within complex network environments.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Broadcom NetOps Network Management Tool Suite, including Spectrum, CA Performance Management, and NetFlow Analyzer (NFA).
- Demonstrated knowledge of Micro Focus Network Automation (HPNA) or comparable enterprise configuration-management tools.
- Experience with NetScout is a plus.
- Experience deploying, developing, and maintaining servers and applications in virtualized environments.
- Strong customization and integration skills across network management and monitoring tools.
- Strong database, scripting, and web front-end development or administration experience.
- Experience creating technical documentation for engineering and technology projects.
- Experience with ServiceNow is a plus.
- Working knowledge of networking technologies sufficient to collaborate effectively with network and infrastructure engineers.
- Good understanding of IT security principles relating to networks and applications, including approaches for mitigating security risks.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities across monitoring platforms and supporting applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to gather technical requirements and communicate solutions clearly to customers, stakeholders, and engineering teams.
- Self-starter with a resourceful approach and strong time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple technical projects and operational priorities effectively.
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Ability to work evening change windows and provide after-hours on-call support as required.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment screenings, including a federal background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug screening.
- Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain authorization by the start date.
- Annual salary range of $72,000-$82,000 USD.
