Jobgether is a Belgian recruitment platform built entirely around remote and flexible work, aggregating openings from thousands of employers that allow work from outside an office. Its matching engine ranks roles against a candidate's skills, seniority and stated preferences on location and flexibility, rather than leaving people to filter a keyword search, and it verifies how genuinely remote each posting is. The company also runs an AI screening layer that shortlists applicants for employers, and publishes research and guidance on distributed work practices alongside the job marketplace itself.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Portfolio Accounting Analyst based in Canada.

This role sits at the intersection of investment operations, accounting, and financial reporting within a sophisticated institutional investment environment. You will support the accounting and reconciliation of a large public investment portfolio spanning fixed income, public loans, hedge funds, and derivative instruments. Your work will help ensure the accuracy of valuations, cash flows, accounting entries, and financial records across multiple systems and external partners. You will collaborate with custodians, investment managers, brokers, counterparties, and internal stakeholders to investigate and resolve discrepancies. The position combines detailed transactional work with opportunities to improve policies, procedures, and accounting processes. This is a high-responsibility role suited to an experienced investment accounting professional who values accuracy, sound judgment, and continuous learning.

Accountabilities:

    • Oversee the preparation and processing of accounting entries for public assets, including subscriptions, redemptions, transfers, valuation entries, and payable or receivable transactions.
    • Monitor collateral and securities sold under repurchase agreements with counterparties, ensuring activity remains compliant with established guidelines.
    • Monitor and forecast cash flows related to future investment activity, identify potential cash shortfalls, and support foreign currency purchases, sales, and short-term note transactions.
    • Liaise with third-party custodians, brokers, fund managers, and other counterparties to resolve settlement issues and complete monthly account reconciliations.
    • Update weekly market values for hedge funds, swaps, and forward currency contracts, ensuring investment records remain accurate and current.
    • Reconcile swap and forward currency contracts with counterparties on a monthly basis, investigate variances, and coordinate timely resolution.
    • Reconcile the cost and market values of public assets against information provided by brokers and investment managers.
    • Prepare aggregate monthly public asset accounting entries for database loads into the financial accounting system.
    • Verify the accuracy of automated uploads of custodian public mandate values and review ad hoc accounting entries for completeness and accuracy.
    • Compare manager-reported and custodian-reported values for fixed income securities and public loans, investigating and resolving significant market value discrepancies.
    • Complete monthly reconciliations of investment trial balance accounts between the financial accounting system and investment accounting system.
    • Reconcile, prepare, and process quarterly investment management fee accruals for public assets.
    • Reconcile profit and loss accounts in the financial accounting system against custodian and investment accounting systems, investigate variances, and process appropriate corrections.
    • Maintain and continuously improve public asset accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
    • Support the preparation of year-end financial statement note disclosures and audit working papers for interim and final audits.
    • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
    • Requirements

      • Bachelor’s degree of at least four years in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
      • Successful completion of a professional accounting designation such as CPA and/or investment designation such as CFA.
      • 4-6 years of relevant experience in brokerage, banking, investment management, or a related financial services environment, including direct experience in investment back-office operations.
      • Demonstrated experience with investment accounting, portfolio reconciliations, and the accounting or valuation of swaps and forward contracts.
      • Strong understanding of custodian functions and the reconciliation of custodian records against external investment manager information.
      • Solid knowledge of investment products and markets, including fixed income, public loans, hedge funds, swaps, forward contracts, and private equity funds.
      • Genuine interest in keeping current with investment research, market trends, and developments affecting public and private assets.
      • Experience working with accounting systems and financial applications; experience with Workday Financials is an asset.
      • Demonstrated ability to manage high transaction volumes while meeting tight deadlines and maintaining accuracy.
      • Advanced computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and database applications.
      • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy in financial and investment records.
      • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills, with the ability to identify discrepancies, investigate their root causes, and determine appropriate resolutions.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
      • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish productive working relationships with custodians, counterparties, investment managers, and internal teams.
      • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, learn new processes and technologies, and work effectively in a multi-tasked environment.
      • Ability to work independently with limited supervision while also contributing effectively to a collaborative team.
      • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
      • Sound judgment, initiative, professionalism, and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
      • A skills assessment may be required as part of the recruitment process.
      • Benefits

        • Competitive compensation: $85,500-$114,400 annually.
        • Performance incentive: The position is eligible for a bonus.
        • Fully remote: Work from a home-based office anywhere in Ontario or Quebec.
        • Full-time employment: Regular full-time opportunity within a specialized investment accounting and reporting function.
        • Professional development: Opportunity to deepen expertise across investment accounting, portfolio reconciliation, derivatives, financial reporting, and institutional investment operations.
        • Complex investment exposure: Work with public securities, fixed income, public loans, hedge funds, swaps, forward contracts, and other sophisticated investment activities.
        • Cross-functional collaboration: Regular interaction with internal investment and finance teams as well as external custodians, managers, brokers, and counterparties.
        • Process improvement: Opportunity to contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting policies, procedures, controls, and systems.
        • Inclusive workplace: Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and creating an environment where employees can contribute authentically.
        • Compensation and any additional employment benefits are subject to the hiring company’s policies and will be discussed during the recruitment process.
