Jobgether is an AI-powered job platform focused on remote and flexible work. It matches candidates with relevant roles using skills and preference-based algorithms, and also offers career coaching and job-search guidance.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a QA / Test Automation Engineer based in the United States.

As a Mid-Level QA / Test Automation Engineer, you will help ensure the reliability and release readiness of modern Java-based applications hosted in AWS.

You will combine manual and automated testing across web applications, APIs, databases, integrations, and end-to-end business processes.

The role offers the opportunity to contribute to a large-scale software modernization program within an agile, cloud-focused environment.

You will translate requirements and acceptance criteria into thorough test strategies, identify quality risks, and validate fixes throughout the development lifecycle.

Working alongside developers, product, DevSecOps, security, data, and business teams, you will help build dependable and secure software.

Your work will also support reusable automation, CI/CD quality gates, test coverage, and continuous improvements to testing practices.

This is a fully remote opportunity for an experienced QA professional who enjoys solving complex technical problems and improving software quality.

Accountabilities:

    • Review user stories, acceptance criteria, application designs, API specifications, data mappings, and AWS documentation to identify test conditions, expected results, and potential quality risks.
    • Create, execute, and maintain manual testing across functional, system, regression, smoke, integration, API, database, data validation, and user acceptance scenarios.
    • Develop and maintain reusable automated test scripts, components, test data, locators, validations, and regression suites using appropriate automation tools and frameworks.
    • Test web interfaces, REST and SOAP APIs, databases, integrations, authentication services, data exchanges, legacy interfaces, workflows, reports, and downstream systems.
    • Execute automated tests across AWS-hosted environments, analyze logs and execution evidence, troubleshoot failures, and maintain test suites as applications evolve.
    • Prepare test data, capture supporting evidence, maintain requirements traceability, and document testing results and release outcomes.
    • Identify, document, and track defects with clear reproduction steps, severity, expected versus actual results, environment details, and supporting evidence; participate in defect triage and verify fixes.
    • Use application, cloud, and pipeline logs to support defect isolation and root-cause analysis.
    • Collaborate with Java developers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, AWS and DevSecOps engineers, integration and data teams, security specialists, vendors, and business stakeholders throughout sprint and release cycles.
    • Support automated test execution within CI/CD pipelines, scheduled regression testing, and release validation, improving test reliability in partnership with senior QA and DevSecOps team members.
    • Contribute to test estimates, sprint planning, coverage assessments, release-readiness reviews, quality metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Help strengthen testing practices related to cloud reliability, security, accessibility, data consistency, and operational readiness.
    • Requirements:

      • Bachelor’s degree and at least four years of experience in software quality assurance, application testing, system testing, or a related technical field.
      • Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Public Trust, with approved adjudication required before onboarding; candidates with an existing Public Trust or suitability determination are preferred.
      • Hands-on experience testing Java-based web applications, services, APIs, integrations, databases, and data flows.
      • Practical experience developing, maintaining, executing, and troubleshooting automated tests using one or more automation tools or frameworks.
      • Experience building reusable automated test components, managing test data and locators, applying validations, and interpreting automated test results.
      • Experience testing applications deployed in AWS environments and working with cloud-hosted components, APIs, databases, logs, and multiple test environments.
      • Strong understanding of functional, system, regression, integration, API, smoke, database, data validation, and user acceptance testing.
      • Experience with defect tracking, test management, requirements traceability, test evidence, test data preparation, and defect retesting.
      • Working knowledge of the software development lifecycle, Agile methodologies, DevSecOps concepts, version control, AWS-based CI/CD pipelines, and release management.
      • Ability to interpret user stories, acceptance criteria, business rules, API contracts, data mappings, technical documentation, and Java application behavior.
      • Strong troubleshooting and analytical abilities, including the capacity to investigate automated test failures, interpret application and AWS logs, isolate defects, and communicate quality risks clearly.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication, documentation, collaboration, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities with moderate supervision.
      • Preferred experience includes enterprise or government Java modernization programs, Subject7, AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and CloudWatch, and tools such as Jira, Confluence, Git, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, or Azure DevOps.
      • Familiarity with Java, SQL, JSON, XML, application logs, Section 508 accessibility requirements, containerized applications, security or performance testing, and AWS observability is advantageous.
      • Relevant certifications such as ISTQB, AWS, Subject7, Agile, testing, automation, cloud, or security certifications are a plus.
      • Benefits:

        • Salary range: $75,200-$158,100 annually, with final compensation influenced by geographic location, contract requirements, experience, skills, education, and certifications.
        • Fully remote work within the United States.
        • Flexible time-off benefits designed to support work-life balance.
        • Comprehensive healthcare and wellness benefits.
        • Financial and retirement benefits and support.
        • Family-focused benefits and resources.
        • Continuing education, learning, and professional development opportunities.
        • Opportunities to work on high-impact software modernization and technology programs.
        • A collaborative environment focused on integrity, trust, innovation, and continuous growth.
        • Up to 10% travel may be required, with local travel as applicable.
        • Federal Public Trust eligibility and related requirements apply to the position
