This is an opportunity to join a remote-first R&D environment and play a key role in maintaining the quality and reliability of mission-critical software.
You will design and execute comprehensive testing strategies across web and client/server applications, APIs, performance, integration, and regression.
The role combines hands-on manual and automated testing with continuous improvement of QA tools, processes, and methodologies.
You’ll work closely with developers and QA colleagues to identify defects, investigate root causes, and strengthen product quality.
You’ll also help introduce innovative technologies and AI-enabled tools that improve testing efficiency and engineering workflows.
The position offers meaningful autonomy, technical ownership, and the opportunity to influence QA practices across multiple products.
Candidates can work remotely anywhere in Canada, with occasional travel required and preference for EST or CST time zones.
Accountabilities
- Design and implement comprehensive testing plans and strategies covering UI, API, load, performance, integration, and regression testing across web and client/server products.
- Own key QA activities, including quality metrics, industry best practices, testing processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Evaluate, recommend, configure, and maintain tools and technologies that support effective quality assurance.
- Build, maintain, and execute automated test suites for front-end and back-end components using tools such as TestComplete and ReadyAPI.
- Develop and maintain test scripts and environments, including processes for refreshing environments and supporting repeatable testing.
- Create and execute manual and automated test cases, document defects, and collaborate with development teams to resolve quality issues.
- Collect and analyze product-quality metrics over time to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Work closely with developers and other QA professionals to improve testing coverage, software reliability, and release quality.
- Translate technical information into clear release notes, presentations, and documentation that can be understood by non-technical stakeholders.
- Help integrate emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools, copilots, automation, and other productivity solutions into QA workflows while applying appropriate security and professional judgment.
- Contribute to the evolution of QA practices, processes, and methodologies across development teams.
- 3+ years of professional experience in software quality assurance, with a thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle and QA principles.
- Hands-on experience creating and executing both manual and automated test cases, including automated testing with TestComplete and SQL.
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL and the ability to understand database-related testing requirements.
- Experience working with ReadyAPI or comparable API testing tools.
- Familiarity with bug-tracking and development-management platforms such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences through release notes, presentations, documentation, and other materials.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with an aptitude for investigating defects and identifying underlying causes.
- Comfortable working independently, managing responsibilities with limited supervision, and maintaining accountability for deliverables.
- Collaborative communication style and the ability to work effectively with QA, development, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong commitment to accountability, respect, integrity, discipline, and continuous improvement.
- Curiosity and willingness to adopt AI-enabled technologies and automation tools to improve efficiency and solve technical problems responsibly.
- Knowledge of utility CIS systems is an asset.
- Experience with GitHub repository strategies, ALM, build automation, packaging, or test automation best practices is an advantage.
- Ability to read C# and SQL code and assist developers with identifying potential root causes is an asset.
- Experience leading, delegating, or coordinating QA activities across multiple development teams is a plus.
- Ability to travel approximately 5% as required; candidates must hold a valid passport and be legally eligible for international travel to relevant destinations.
- Preference may be given to candidates who can work within EST or CST time zones.
- Competitive salary of approximately $65,000-$75,000 CAD per year.
