Senior Automation Testing Engineer (Python)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Automation Testing Engineer (Python) based in India.

As a Senior Automation Testing Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of sophisticated cloud-based software solutions.

You will design, maintain, and expand automated testing capabilities using Python and Selenium across substantial internal test environments.

The role combines hands-on test automation, troubleshooting, framework development, and continuous improvement of quality engineering practices.

You will investigate complex issues by analyzing application logs, framework outputs, and traffic data to identify and resolve defects.

Working closely with Development, DevOps, TechOps, and network teams, you will help align testing efforts with broader technology and product priorities.

You will also contribute to new automation methodologies, improve testing workflows, and identify opportunities to increase efficiency and coverage.

As a senior member of the team, you will share knowledge and mentor colleagues while helping raise the overall standard of software quality.

Accountabilities:

• Use a custom Python-Selenium automation framework to execute thorough and reliable software testing.
• Design, develop, and deploy new automated test scripts supporting comprehensive end-to-end product validation.
• Review and interpret automated test results, framework logs, product logs, and traffic dumps to identify defects and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Maintain, enhance, and extend the existing automation framework to improve its capabilities, reliability, and test coverage.
• Develop new tools and automation approaches that make testing workflows more efficient and effective.
• Identify weaknesses and bottlenecks in existing automated processes and implement improvements to strengthen overall testing efficiency.
• Analyze ongoing processes, investigate issues, and support debugging activities throughout software release cycles.
• Work collaboratively with Development, DevOps, TechOps, network, and other teams to coordinate testing activities and align quality objectives with broader priorities.
• Contribute to the development of new test automation methodologies and approaches for evolving software and cloud environments.
• Provide testing progress updates and collaborate across departments to ensure project scope and quality expectations are clearly understood.
• Support knowledge sharing and mentor other team members on automation practices, troubleshooting, and quality engineering techniques.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of proven experience in QA automation or a closely related software quality engineering role.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python 3.x, including advanced use of decorators.
• Detailed knowledge of Python data structures, including lists, dictionaries, sets, and tuples.
• Solid understanding of programming concepts and algorithms, including object-oriented programming and multithreading.
• Experience with REST API automation and/or SDK-based interfaces using technologies such as Java, Python, or C++.
• Strong experience working with Linux-based operating systems.
• Good understanding of software development processes, QA practices, and software testing methodologies.
• Proficiency with JIRA, Git, and other project or defect-tracking systems.
• Excellent analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to investigate complex technical issues methodically.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional and team-oriented environments.
• A proactive approach to identifying new automation opportunities and improving existing testing capabilities.
• Experience with AWS or GCP automation frameworks and CI/CD processes is a plus.
• Experience working on test automation projects for private or public cloud solutions is an advantage.
• Practical experience with MySQL is a plus.
• Experience configuring Salesforce, ServiceNow, or Microsoft Dynamics is beneficial.
