Senior Data Scientist, Sales

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Data Scientist, Sales based in Canada.

This role sits within a Sales Data function supporting a broad commercial organization through analytics, data modeling, experimentation, and machine learning.

You will lead high-priority initiatives and act as a decision science expert, helping shape commercial strategy and AI-driven sales programs.

Your work will directly influence business outcomes by turning complex data into actionable insights and scalable solutions.

You will build reliable data models, develop machine learning systems, and design experiments that improve sales processes and customer engagement.

The position offers extensive collaboration with teams across Data Science, Commercial Leadership, Sales Operations, Product, Design, and Engineering.

You will also contribute to reporting, dashboards, and metrics that help stakeholders understand performance and make better decisions.

Accountabilities:

• Data Modeling and Analytics: Build and maintain accurate, reliable data models while conducting exploratory analysis that uncovers opportunities to improve sales processes and commercial performance.
• Machine Learning: Define, prototype, implement, improve, and maintain machine learning models that address real-world business challenges and contribute directly to key commercial objectives.
• Sales Experimentation: Design and analyze experiments to test business hypotheses, such as identifying which customers should be prioritized for outbound sales activity, and use the results to guide decision-making.
• Business Reporting: Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and performance metrics that give stakeholders clear visibility into commercial results and support progress against key business goals.
• Stakeholder Partnership: Collaborate with Data Science, Commercial Leadership, Sales Operations, Product, Design, Engineering, and other stakeholder groups to translate business needs into effective data-driven solutions.
• Decision Science Leadership: Take ownership of high-priority initiatives and serve as a trusted decision science partner, using analytical expertise to influence strategic and operational decisions across the commercial organization.
• Knowledge Sharing and Mentorship: Contribute to a culture of continuous learning by teaching teammates, sharing expertise, supporting colleagues, and helping others become more successful.

Requirements

• Data Science Experience: 5+ years of experience in data science, decision science, or an equivalent field, including experience serving as the primary data science owner for a business domain.
• Technical Skills: Excellent SQL and Python skills, with hands-on experience working with data pipelines; familiarity with tools such as dbt and Airflow is an advantage.
• Machine Learning: Strong understanding of fundamental machine learning algorithms and demonstrated experience putting machine learning models into production in real-world environments.
• Statistics and Experimentation: Practical experience applying statistics and experimentation methodologies, including A/B testing, within an industry setting.
• Business and Sales Acumen: Good understanding of business practices, sales processes, and client behavior, with the ability to connect technical analysis to commercial outcomes.
• Stakeholder Management: Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to clearly present analytical findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Leadership and Mentoring: Experience managing or mentoring team members, either formally or informally, with a collaborative approach to developing others.
• Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving abilities, curiosity, sound judgment, and the ability to take ownership of complex initiatives while working effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
