Senior Developer Java

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Developer Java based in Brazil.

This is a senior backend engineering opportunity focused on building and evolving modern, cloud-native solutions within a microservices ecosystem. You will take ownership of complex backend capabilities, translating business and technical requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions. The role combines hands-on Java development with architecture, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and engineering best practices. You will contribute across the full development lifecycle, from technical refinement through deployment and production support. Collaboration with Tech Leads, Architects, Product Owners, and other specialists will be central to your work. You will also help raise engineering standards through code reviews, technical improvements, and knowledge sharing. Accountabilities:

• Design, develop, and evolve complex backend solutions using Java and Spring Boot, including REST APIs, microservices, business rules, integrations, and synchronous and asynchronous processing.
• Translate business and technical requirements into simple, scalable, sustainable, and maintainable technical solutions.
• Apply sound software architecture principles, including Clean Architecture, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), SOLID, design patterns, and modern development practices.
• Design and maintain distributed systems involving service-to-service communication, APIs, events, and messaging.
• Work with relational and/or NoSQL databases, including data modeling, query development, and performance optimization.
• Build and operate cloud-native solutions using AWS services such as Lambda, SQS, SNS, S3, ECS, EKS, and related technologies.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automating builds and deployments while supporting traceability and integration with quality and security tooling.
• Implement automated unit, integration, and contract testing to maintain software quality and reliability.
• Work with Docker and Kubernetes-based environments, including EKS, OpenShift Container Platform (OCP), or equivalent orchestration technologies.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production environments using logs, metrics, traces, and other observability practices, identifying root causes and resolving technical issues.
• Identify technical risks, bottlenecks, vulnerabilities, and technical debt, proposing and implementing appropriate improvements.
• Apply secure development practices and proactively identify and address software vulnerabilities.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing while helping establish and reinforce engineering best practices.
• Collaborate closely with Tech Leads, Architects, Product Owners, and multidisciplinary teams throughout the development lifecycle.
• Use AI-powered development tools thoughtfully to improve productivity, software quality, investigation, and problem-solving.
• Take ownership of technical decisions within your area of expertise while knowing when to seek additional guidance.

Requirements:

• Proven senior-level experience developing backend applications, with strong hands-on expertise in Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong experience designing and implementing REST APIs, microservices, integrations, business logic, and synchronous/asynchronous processing.
• Solid understanding of backend architecture, including Clean Architecture, DDD, SOLID principles, design patterns, and maintainable software practices.
• Practical experience with distributed systems, service communication, event-driven architectures, APIs, and messaging.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, including modeling, querying, and performance optimization.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, particularly services such as Lambda, SQS, SNS, S3, ECS, and/or EKS.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, build and deployment automation, version control, and software quality and security practices.
• Experience developing automated unit, integration, and contract tests.
• Practical knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes, with experience in EKS, OCP, or equivalent platforms.
• Experience with observability tools and practices, including logs, metrics, traces, monitoring, and production troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of secure software development and the ability to identify and remediate vulnerabilities.
• Strong Git experience, including branching strategies, pull requests, and code review workflows.
• Demonstrated autonomy, technical judgment, analytical thinking, and ability to investigate complex problems through to root cause.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable using AI tools as part of the software development and investigation workflow.
• Ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership of technical initiatives and delivering with minimal supervision.
