Senior Game AI Designer

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior game designer to shape intelligent, engaging NPC experiences within a high-mobility action game.

You’ll design enemies and AI behaviors that directly influence gameplay, challenge, and player immersion.

The role combines creative game design with hands-on technical implementation using modern game engines and AI systems.

You’ll collaborate closely with designers, engineers, producers, and leadership throughout the development process.

Player data, feedback, and behavioral analytics will help you continuously refine and improve AI experiences.

You’ll join a fully remote, collaborative environment that values autonomy, experimentation, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Accountabilities

• Design and develop exciting, engaging enemies and NPC experiences for a unique, high-mobility action game.
• Create detailed AI design specifications, technical documentation, and implementation plans.
• Collaborate closely with game designers and engineers on NPC creation, scripting, behavior trees, and AI systems.
• Work with producers to plan upcoming AI development work, identify dependencies, and coordinate priorities.
• Analyze player data, feedback, and heatmaps to evaluate AI performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Iterate on AI behaviors and encounters based on gameplay insights and player experience.
• Present and pitch detailed AI concepts and designs to leads and directors, incorporating feedback into final designs.
• Contribute to a collaborative development culture focused on experimentation, quality, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in game design, AI game development, or a closely related field.
• Strong passion for competitive and/or strategic multiplayer games and a professional understanding of how NPCs contribute to these experiences.
• Strong technical expertise with Unreal Engine or an equivalent AAA game engine.
• Senior-level proficiency with Blueprint scripting and AI behavior trees.
• Demonstrated ability to translate creative concepts into practical, technically sound AI systems.
• Experience collaborating effectively with programmers, designers, producers, and other multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the ability to use player data and feedback to improve game systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting ideas to senior creative and technical stakeholders.
• Background or formal education in game design, programming, or a related discipline.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and contribute effectively within a fully remote development environment.
