This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior IT Engineer based in United States.
This role offers the opportunity to strengthen enterprise IT security, reliability, and scalability across a global workforce. You will lead complex technical and security initiatives while remaining hands-on with Microsoft 365, identity, endpoint management, automation, and systems integration. A major focus will be hardening the Microsoft 365 E5 environment and improving security posture through proactive controls, monitoring, and automated response. You will also connect critical business platforms and streamline workflows using scripting, APIs, automation, and AI-enabled solutions. Working across IT, Security, Compliance, Legal, and business teams, you will help ensure systems remain secure, resilient, and aligned with organizational requirements. This is a highly visible position for an experienced engineer who enjoys ownership, technical problem solving, and working in a fast-paced environment.
Accountabilities:
- Lead complex IT and security projects from requirements gathering and solution design through implementation, testing, documentation, and delivery.
- Maintain project plans, timelines, milestones, and status reporting while coordinating stakeholders and concurrent workstreams.
- Design, implement, and strengthen security across the Microsoft 365 E5 ecosystem, including Defender, Sentinel, Entra ID, Purview/Compliance, and Intune.
- Develop detections, alerting rules, and automated response playbooks in collaboration with internal security teams and external MDR/SOC partners.
- Improve Microsoft Secure Score, device compliance, and Conditional Access posture while driving remediation of identified risks.
- Administer and enhance Microsoft 365 and business applications, including Workday, Zendesk, and collaboration and productivity platforms.
- Design integrations between systems such as Workday, Salesforce, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365 to support identity lifecycle management, provisioning, and data flows.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to architect scalable solutions that use AI and integrations to improve business processes and workflows.
- Automate recurring IT and security processes using PowerShell, Power Automate, Microsoft Graph API, and AI tooling.
- Engineer and maintain endpoint management standards, device images, application packaging, and policy baselines across Windows and macOS using Intune.
- Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, and Security to align technology environments with SOC 2, ISO 27001, and other accreditation requirements.
- Support the evaluation of new technologies, software, integrations, and vendors with a focus on reducing risk, cost, and manual effort.
- Support incident response, business continuity, and disaster recovery exercises, including technical execution and post-test documentation.
- Create and maintain technical designs, implementation specifications, runbooks, and knowledge base documentation.
- Serve as a technical escalation point and subject matter expert for IT Support and Systems Administration teams.
- Contribute to day-to-day IT operations, including escalated troubleshooting, system maintenance, user support, and recurring administrative activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 4+ years of professional experience in IT engineering, systems administration, infrastructure, or a related role supporting a global user base.
- 2+ years of experience leading IT or security projects involving planning, stakeholder management, and delivery of concurrent workstreams.
- Demonstrated experience delivering security-focused initiatives within a Microsoft 365 E5 environment.
- Hands-on administration experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune/Endpoint Manager, Defender, Purview/Compliance, and Sentinel.
- Experience integrating business systems and identity sources, including Workday-to-Entra ID provisioning and identity lifecycle automation.
- Strong scripting and automation capabilities using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph API, and Power Automate.
- Experience delivering AI-enabled or integration-heavy solutions in collaboration with engineering teams.
- Working knowledge of security frameworks and standards including SOC 2, ISO 27001, and NIST 800-53.
- Experience working with MDR/SOC providers and other external security partners.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise sound independent judgment and work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent project management, organization, written communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to translate security and compliance framework requirements into clear, actionable technical requirements.
- Ability to manage evidence deadlines and priorities across multiple concurrent audit cycles.
- Experience using AI tools to automate manual processes, streamline workflows, and improve team efficiency.
- Experience with Zendesk or comparable ticketing platforms and Copilot or other AI tools is a plus.
- PMP, CAPM, or equivalent project management certification is preferred but not required.
- Microsoft security certifications such as SC-200, SC-300, AZ-500, or MD-102, or CompTIA Security+ are preferred but not required.
