Jobgether is a Belgian recruitment platform built entirely around remote and flexible work, aggregating openings from thousands of employers that allow work from outside an office. Its matching engine ranks roles against a candidate's skills, seniority and stated preferences on location and flexibility, rather than leaving people to filter a keyword search, and it verifies how genuinely remote each posting is. The company also runs an AI screening layer that shortlists applicants for employers, and publishes research and guidance on distributed work practices alongside the job marketplace itself.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Mining Engineer based in Canada.

This is a senior consulting engineering role focused on mine planning, design, optimization, and project evaluation across the mining lifecycle. You will contribute to projects ranging from conceptual studies through pre-feasibility, feasibility, and operating mine stages. The role combines technical leadership with economic analysis, project management, client engagement, and multidisciplinary collaboration. You will help shape mine plans, production strategies, technical studies, and investment decisions while supporting resource-to-reserve conversion and operational improvements. You will also provide technical mentorship, contribute to business development, and help ensure projects meet rigorous safety, regulatory, and professional standards. Periodic travel to client sites and project locations in Canada and internationally will provide exposure to diverse mining environments and complex assignments.

Accountabilities:

    • Develop, evaluate, and optimize open-pit mine plans and underground mine designs across conceptual, pre-feasibility, feasibility, and operating mine projects.
    • Lead and contribute to technical studies, including PEA, PFS, and FS work, production scheduling, mine evaluation, operational planning, and project development activities.
    • Conduct technical and economic evaluations of mining projects, supporting budgeting, cost estimation, cash flow analysis, Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and broader project economics.
    • Design and optimize short-term and long-term open-pit mining plans while applying innovative methodologies and industry best practices to improve project outcomes.
    • Prepare clear, technically rigorous reports, presentations, and supporting documentation, including acting as a Qualified Person (QP) where applicable.
    • Apply expert knowledge of mining operations and minerals industry practices, with the ability to contribute to areas such as mine planning, mine evaluation, reclamation planning, mine operations management, mine environmental management, and equipment selection.
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including geologists, metallurgists, geotechnical engineers, environmental specialists, and other technical professionals to deliver integrated project solutions.
    • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to multidisciplinary teams while coordinating project activities and maintaining high standards of quality and accountability.
    • Establish and strengthen client relationships by understanding project requirements, communicating technical findings effectively, and supporting successful project delivery.
    • Support business development activities, proposals, client presentations, and engagement initiatives that contribute to the development of new consulting opportunities.
    • Manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced consulting environment, balancing technical quality, budgets, schedules, and stakeholder expectations.
    • Travel periodically to client sites, project locations, and offices within Canada and internationally, including short-term assignments when required.
    • Maintain compliance with applicable health and safety requirements, professional conduct standards, regulatory expectations, and organizational policies.
    • Requirements

      • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related engineering discipline such as Civil, Mechanical, Process Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
      • Minimum of 15 years of technical experience within the mining industry, with more than 10 years of experience in project evaluation, budgeting, and cost estimation from project initiation through completion.
      • Strong understanding of mining operations, mine planning, project development, economic evaluation, and the technical considerations involved in open-pit and underground mining.
      • Demonstrated leadership and management experience, with a proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary technical teams.
      • Strong project management capabilities, including the ability to coordinate multiple assignments, manage demanding schedules, and maintain quality in a fast-paced professional consulting environment.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce technically sound reports, presentations, and client-facing materials.
      • Strong organizational, interpersonal, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills, combined with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as working knowledge of AutoCAD.
      • Experience with Microsoft Project and Oracle applications is considered an asset.
      • Proficiency with one or more industry-standard mining and resource modeling platforms, such as GEOVIA GEMS, Whittle, Vulcan, Datamine, Surpac, Micromine, or comparable software.
      • Experience in rock mechanics is considered a strong asset, along with additional knowledge relevant to mine planning, evaluation, reclamation, operations, environmental management, and equipment selection.
      • Additional language proficiency, such as French, Spanish, Russian, or Arabic, may be required depending on project needs and location.
      • Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions safely and accurately, with willingness to work extended hours when necessary to meet project deadlines.
      • Availability to travel periodically to offices, client sites, and project locations across Canada and internationally.
      • Candidates applying for Canadian positions must be authorized to work in Canada.
      • Benefits

        • Hourly compensation ranging from CAD $61.55 to $71.80, depending on relevant qualifications, experience, and other job-related factors.
        • Health, dental, and vision coverage with 80% employer coverage.
        • Paid time off to support rest and work-life balance.
        • Eligibility for an RRSP program to support long-term financial planning.
        • Opportunity to work across a broad range of mining projects, from early-stage studies through operating mine environments.
        • Exposure to multidisciplinary teams, complex technical challenges, project economics, and international client assignments.
        • Opportunities to provide technical leadership, mentor professionals, contribute to business development, and influence major mining project decisions.
        • A consulting environment that supports professional growth through diverse projects and exposure to different mining operations and methodologies.
        • Reasonable accommodations are available to qualified candidates throughout the recruitment process.
