This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Field Engineering Manager/Assistant Project Manager - Combined Cycle Power Plant based in United States.
This role provides on-site engineering and project leadership for a major 1,200-MW combined cycle natural gas power plant currently under construction.
You will act as a key technical and project interface between the Owner, EPC contractor, original equipment manufacturer, and engineering teams.
The position combines field engineering, technical coordination, construction support, document review, and project execution responsibilities.
You will help drive timely resolution of engineering questions, field issues, requests for information, and technical clarifications across multiple disciplines.
Working directly with site leadership and project stakeholders, you will help maintain alignment with design intent, contract requirements, and construction objectives.
The assignment is expected to continue through project completion in 2028, providing significant exposure to complex power generation construction and commissioning activities.

Accountabilities
- Serve as the primary on-site engineering and project coordination resource, supporting the Owner’s team and working closely with site leadership, engineering, construction, and key contractors.
- Coordinate and expedite technical reviews, engineering decisions, drawing reviews, and comment resolution to maintain project momentum and support timely execution.
- Manage and follow up on requests for information, technical clarifications, design questions, and field issues across multiple engineering disciplines through resolution and closure.
- Monitor engineering and construction activities to ensure alignment with contract documents, approved design intent, technical requirements, and overall project objectives.
- Provide engineering and project-management support for critical interfaces among the Owner, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Engineer of Record, and Owner’s Engineer.
- Support field engineering activities throughout active construction and commissioning, helping identify, coordinate, and resolve technical issues that could affect schedule, quality, or execution.
- Maintain strong communication and follow-through across stakeholders to ensure open technical and project issues remain visible, prioritized, and effectively resolved.
- Support engineering document control, technical review workflows, submittals, quality processes, punchlist activities, and project turnover requirements as needed.
- Help drive effective use of modern engineering tools, automation, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve workflows, reduce rework, and support cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and oversight for automation or process-improvement initiatives, including engineering calculations, technical document summarization, design documentation, and AI-enabled workflows where appropriate.
- Guide engineers using tools such as Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel for engineering automation while ensuring that automated outputs are appropriately reviewed and validated.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited program is required.
- 10+ years of demonstrated experience in field engineering, project engineering management, assistant project management, Owner’s Engineering, EPC execution, or construction support roles is required.
- Strong experience supporting power generation projects is required, with combined cycle power plant experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working on-site during active construction and commissioning phases is highly valued.
- Working knowledge of engineering document control, technical review processes, Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC), punchlist management, and project turnover activities is required.
- Strong ability to coordinate across multiple technical and project stakeholders while maintaining momentum and accountability on open issues.
- Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, coordination, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.
- Ability to work effectively in a field-based environment while balancing technical priorities, project requirements, stakeholder expectations, and construction schedules.
- Experience leading or overseeing engineering automation, process improvement, Artificial Intelligence, or modern engineering technology initiatives is valued.
- Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel, or comparable tools used to automate engineering workflows is beneficial but not required.
- Additional education, certifications, or experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related disciplines is valued for supporting automation and AI-enabled engineering workflows.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States, as work authorization sponsorship is not provided for this position.
- Compensation range of $118,023-$180,313.
- Full-time temporary assignment expected to continue through project completion, currently anticipated in 2028.
- Full-time, on-site field assignment in Lee County, Texas, with project location potentially varying depending on project and client requirements.
