This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Accountant - General Ledger (Night Shift - PST) based in India.
This is a senior accounting opportunity within a global Finance organization, focused on maintaining accurate, compliant, and timely financial reporting.
You will take ownership of key activities across the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
The role combines technical accounting expertise with balance sheet management, financial analysis, internal controls, and audit support.
You will partner closely with teams including FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and other business stakeholders.
You will also contribute to process improvement and automation initiatives designed to make accounting operations more scalable and efficient.
As a senior contributor, you will provide subject matter expertise, review work performed by other teams, and support the development of accounting practices and procedures.
This remote role is well suited to an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced global environment and is comfortable working the PST night shift.
Accountabilities
- Lead key activities across monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial analyses.
- Maintain accurate and reliable balance sheet accounts and support accounting activities related to accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and leases.
- Analyze financial information and account activity to support accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Ensure accounting activities comply with United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), internal accounting policies, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements, and established internal controls.
- Partner with Finance and cross-functional stakeholders to validate financial data, address reporting requirements, and support business needs.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing accurate schedules, documentation, analyses, and other required information.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve reporting accuracy, and increase operational efficiency through automation and process redesign.
- Evaluate and implement appropriate automation solutions while maintaining strong financial controls and data integrity.
- Act as a subject matter expert for assigned accounting processes and provide guidance to relevant stakeholders.
- Review accounting work performed by staff members or offshore teams to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established standards.
- Mentor colleagues and contribute to the development and improvement of accounting policies, procedures, and standardized methodologies.
- Manage multiple priorities and deliverables while consistently meeting close deadlines and maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
- Bring at least 4 years of progressive accounting experience gained in a dynamic corporate environment.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting principles, with hands-on experience managing month-end close activities, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statement analysis.
- Have advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and analysis of large datasets.
- Have experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, with Workday preferred.
- Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and identify practical solutions.
- Possess excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Active or in-progress Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is preferred.
- Experience in public accounting or with a Big Four accounting firm, particularly involving complex accounting and financial reporting, is advantageous.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of SOX compliance, internal controls, and risk management practices within regulated organizations.
- Experience working within publicly traded and/or multinational organizations and supporting global accounting operations is beneficial.
- Familiarity with Workday Financials, Power BI, Alteryx, SQL, Python, or similar technologies is advantageous, particularly where these tools have been used to improve or automate accounting processes.
- Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset and an ability to identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and strengthen financial processes.
- Be comfortable working independently while contributing effectively within a global, collaborative Finance organization.
- Be willing to work a night-shift schedule aligned with Pacific Standard Time (PST).
