Senior Software Engineer, Devices

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Devices based in India.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will build and evolve device management solutions that enable organizations to securely manage large fleets of endpoints.

You will work across macOS, Windows, and Linux, combining operating system expertise with highly available cloud services and APIs.

Your work will support capabilities such as remote configuration, patching, security, monitoring, device enrollment, and endpoint telemetry.

The role offers the opportunity to work with Go, Node.js, cloud infrastructure, authentication technologies, and cross-platform system agents.

You will collaborate with architects, product managers, UX designers, DevOps engineers, and other technical teams to deliver scalable solutions.

Beyond feature development, you will contribute to technical strategy, automated testing, system reliability, and continuous improvement.

This is a remote-first opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex systems problems and working close to operating system internals.

Accountabilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain cross-platform device management applications and services primarily using Go and Node.js.
• Build software for Windows, macOS, and Linux environments, integrating closely with operating system capabilities and third-party applications.
• Develop and improve device management functionality supporting remote configuration, patching, security, monitoring, enrollment, and telemetry.
• Work with operating system components and technologies such as Windows services, Event Loggers, Windows internals, macOS LaunchDaemons, and other platform-specific capabilities.
• Build and maintain highly available, scalable cloud APIs and backend services that communicate with endpoint applications and agents.
• Collaborate with architects, UX designers, DevOps engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver reliable and intuitive solutions.
• Contribute to strategic planning, technical discovery, and feature scoping sessions with product teams.
• Implement secure communication and authentication mechanisms, including mTLS and OAuth/OIDC flows.
• Develop comprehensive unit, functional, and acceptance tests and contribute to automated testing and quality assurance practices.
• Participate in a Scrum-based agile development environment, contributing to planning, execution, reviews, and continuous improvement.
• Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge across the engineering team.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to production alerts and incidents during assigned shifts.
• Contribute to engineering standards and continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance system reliability, scalability, security, and development efficiency.

Requirements

• 7-10 years of professional experience developing applications for macOS, Windows, or Linux, including integration with third-party applications.
• Strong hands-on experience in backend software development or full-stack engineering, with professional experience in at least one modern programming language such as Go, Python, or Java.
• Strong experience with Go or willingness and ability to work extensively with Go in a cross-platform software environment.
• Experience working with at least one major public cloud platform, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines for building, testing, and deploying software, preferably using GitHub Actions.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
• Understanding of device management and endpoint management concepts; prior MDM experience is an advantage.
• Familiarity with security and authentication technologies such as mTLS, OAuth, and OIDC is desirable.
• Working knowledge of Swift, C#, or C++ is an advantage, particularly for platform-specific development.
• Experience working with Windows services, Event Loggers, kernel-level concepts, macOS LaunchDaemons, or application hosting on macOS is highly desirable.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to investigate complex technical issues across application, operating system, and cloud layers.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with globally distributed technical teams.
• Willingness and ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative engineering culture.
• Fluent written and spoken English, as English is the primary language used for internal communication and the recruitment process.
• Ability and authorization to work remotely from India.
• Willingness to participate in scheduled on-call rotations and respond to production issues during assigned shifts.
