Profile match
Jobgether is a Belgian recruitment platform built entirely around remote and flexible work, aggregating openings from thousands of employers that allow work from outside an office. Its matching engine ranks roles against a candidate's skills, seniority and stated preferences on location and flexibility, rather than leaving people to filter a keyword search, and it verifies how genuinely remote each posting is. The company also runs an AI screening layer that shortlists applicants for employers, and publishes research and guidance on distributed work practices alongside the job marketplace itself.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Site Construction Planner - Hydropower Projects based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to play a critical part in the planning and execution of major hydropower construction projects across Québec. You will develop and manage detailed, resource-loaded schedules while working closely with site teams, subcontractors, project leadership, and customers. Your planning expertise will directly contribute to efficient construction sequencing, resource optimization, and successful project delivery. You will monitor progress, productivity, risks, and schedule performance, identifying issues early and driving effective recovery actions. The position combines field-based project planning, technical analysis, stakeholder coordination, and hands-on problem solving. It is well suited to an experienced construction planner who enjoys working in complex industrial environments and making a tangible impact on large-scale energy infrastructure projects.

Accountabilities:

    • Develop and maintain detailed, resource-loaded construction schedules in Primavera P6 at Level 4-5.
    • Coordinate daily and weekly planning with site teams to establish logical work sequences and optimize the use of available resources.
    • Prepare and lead short-term planning activities, including lookahead schedules and Last Planner System sessions, ensuring alignment between site teams and subcontractors.
    • Maintain an action log of execution constraints and proactively follow up to ensure issues are resolved.
    • Monitor physical progress, earned value, productivity, and S-curves, updating project schedules to reflect actual site conditions.
    • Identify schedule risks and analyze variances between planned and actual progress, recommending mitigation and recovery measures where required.
    • Review technical drawings and single-line diagrams to identify construction interfaces, access constraints, dependencies, and sequencing risks.
    • Support the preparation of schedule-related claims, including impact assessments and delay analyses, in accordance with contractual requirements.
    • Prepare schedule reports, progress updates, and S-curves for project management and customer reviews.
    • Maintain accurate and current registers of planning constraints, delays, risks, and recovery actions.
    • Provide clear and timely schedule updates to project leadership and customer representatives, highlighting progress, risks, potential delays, and recovery plans.
    • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure construction activities remain aligned with overall project objectives and milestones.
    • Requirements:

      • Proven experience in construction planning, including at least 5 years of on-site experience supporting industrial projects.
      • Strong proficiency with project planning software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project, including schedule development and resource management.
      • Solid knowledge of construction planning principles, methodologies, scheduling techniques, and project controls.
      • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and understand the interdependencies between mechanical, electrical, piping, and other project disciplines.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to anticipate, identify, and mitigate schedule conflicts and project risks.
      • Demonstrated leadership skills combined with proactive, clear, and collaborative communication.
      • Fluency in French and the ability to communicate effectively in English.
      • Willingness and ability to travel extensively to project sites in Québec, potentially up to 100% of the time, according to established rotation schedules.
      • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic construction environment.
      • Experience working directly with site teams, subcontractors, project managers, and customers is highly valuable.
      • Experience with hydropower projects is considered a strong asset.
      • Knowledge of Lean Construction principles and the Last Planner System is an asset.
      • Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) and construction progress measurement techniques is an asset.
      • Professional certification in project planning or project management, such as PMI-SP, PMP, or AACE-PSP, is an asset.
      • Benefits:

        • Competitive compensation and benefits package tailored to the position and local requirements.
        • Programs designed to support personal and family needs while rewarding performance.
        • Resources and initiatives supporting health, well-being, and a balanced lifestyle.
        • Opportunities for continuous learning, professional development, and on-the-job growth.
        • Exposure to major hydropower and energy infrastructure projects.
        • Opportunity to work with multidisciplinary teams and advanced technologies within the energy sector.
        • Inclusive and collaborative work environment that values diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
        • Remote employment designation with extensive travel to Québec project sites according to established rotation schedules.
        • No relocation assistance required or provided.
