This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Product Designer based in Canada.
This is a high-impact design leadership role focused on shaping the foundational systems behind a complex B2B SaaS product.
You will own the end-to-end experience across platform, core product, and enterprise surfaces, defining how users experience the product as one connected system.
The role combines systems thinking, product strategy, user research, and hands-on product design.
You will work extensively in greenfield environments where problems need to be framed and solutions discovered rather than simply executed from specifications.
Your decisions around data, permissions, integrations, and interaction patterns will influence multiple product teams and future product experiences.
You will partner closely with product, engineering, and go-to-market teams while bringing a strong user-centered point of view to strategic decisions.
This opportunity is ideal for a staff-level designer who enjoys ambiguity, meaningful ownership, and building scalable foundations that raise the quality of an entire product organization.
Accountabilities
- Own end-to-end product design for the foundational platform, core product, and enterprise experiences, from discovery and definition through launch and iteration.
- Define scalable data relationships, permission models, integration surfaces, and interaction patterns that support multiple product workflows.
- Establish design system foundations and reusable patterns that can be adopted consistently across product teams.
- Design connected experiences across product areas so that workflows complement one another and become increasingly intelligent and efficient.
- Lead design in genuinely greenfield environments, identifying opportunities and defining solutions where established requirements may not yet exist.
- Frame problems, write design briefs, establish product direction, and collaborate with product leadership on roadmap priorities.
- Make sound design decisions with incomplete information and sequence work to generate meaningful product learnings quickly.
- Shape experiences for managing tasks, reporting, integrations, and other workflows across the full lifecycle of grant-funded operations.
- Plan and conduct user research, including participant recruitment, interviews, synthesis, and translating findings into product decisions.
- Advocate for user needs and provide a clear design perspective during product and business discussions.
- Influence engineering, product, and go-to-market stakeholders and build alignment around product direction across organizational levels.
- Raise the design quality bar through thoughtful critique, collaboration, mentoring, and coaching of other designers.
- 10+ years of professional product design experience, including significant experience operating at Staff or Principal level.
- Demonstrated ownership of complete product domains rather than individual features or isolated workflows.
- Proven experience designing platforms or core product areas within complex B2B or enterprise SaaS environments.
- Strong experience with data models, permissions, integration surfaces, and scalable interaction patterns used by multiple product teams.
- Track record of shipping net-new products or experiences, including meaningful 0-to-1 work where you helped define the problem and direction.
- Deep end-to-end user research experience, from research planning and participant recruitment through synthesis and incorporation into product strategy.
- Experience designing agentic or AI-powered product experiences.
- Strong systems-thinking, product strategy, interaction design, and problem-framing capabilities.
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and create structure where processes are still evolving.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and challenge assumptions constructively.
- Design systems experience, particularly where you established patterns and foundations rather than simply applying an existing system, is a plus.
- Experience using AI tools to prototype working product concepts, such as building functional prototypes with tools like Claude or Cursor, is a plus.
- Experience in compliance, data integrity, or workflow-intensive domains is a plus.
- Startup experience and comfort working in lightweight, evolving processes is a plus.
- Experience mentoring or coaching other designers is a plus.
- Familiarity with nonprofit, social impact, or grant-funded organizations is a plus.
- Target US salary range of $200,000-$230,000 USD, plus equity.
- Final compensation based on experience, skills, scope of responsibility, interview performance, and geographic location.
- Competitive and equitable compensation practices.
- For candidates based in Canada, compensation varies by province and is communicated early in the recruitment process.
- 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees, with 50% coverage for dependents.
- Generous paid time off, including parental leave.
- 401(k) retirement plan.
- Company-provided laptop.
- Home-office stipend.
- Bi-annual company retreats.
- Opportunities for continued professional growth within a rapidly evolving product environment.
- Inclusive workplace committed to equal opportunity and reasonable accommodations throughout the hiring process.
