What this job involves:
As an Assistant Engineering Manager at JLL, you will assist the Engineering Manager with supervision, coordination, and training of Leads/Operating Engineers while taking ownership of critical engineering programs and compliance initiatives. You will develop and implement SOPs for panel allocation to forecast panel availability supporting client design scope documents, develop true panel load data logging programs for accurate forecasting, and establish EPM compliance programs for each site. This role requires you to serve as a subject matter expert on electrical, life safety, and fire alarm systems while providing technical support and training to Leads/Operating Engineers. You will oversee the maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems including fire/life safety, mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, controls), electrical (lighting, UPS, PDU, generators, switchgear), temperature control systems, and critical environments. You will be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, managing reactive works within SLA limits, coordinating vendor activities, and maintaining comprehensive documentation including building drawings, single-lines, and compliance records. Your ability to troubleshoot and respond to operational and emergency situations while maintaining a safe working environment is essential to success in this role.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Assist the Engineering Manager with supervision, coordinating, and training the Leads/Operating Engineers
- Develop Panel Allocation SOPs to forecast panel availability supporting client design scope documents as projects progress through the RFP process, ensuring panel allocation is ready for site walks to expedite project completion and reduce costs
- Develop SOPs and implement true panel load data logging for accurate forecasting of panel availability and usage
- Develop EPM programs for each site, write SOPs, and verify MOPs in a timely manner to expedite scheduling coordination
- Review all Electrical MOPs and approve associated JHAs
- Ensure reactive work orders are managed within SLA limits and proactively action unassigned work orders to reduce volume and work order age
- Provide technical support and training for Leads/Operating Engineers while operating all building systems in a competent, effective and efficient manner
- Coordinate and control all vendor activities, ensuring quality of work is inspected and defects/recommendations are actioned or escalated accordingly
- Obtain quotations and order parts required to maintain site operation and system resilience
- Conduct regular site-specific training with all sites Leads/Operating Engineers and ensure regular site inspections, work inspections, and audits are carried out
- Ensure all site tools/equipment and key system inventories are kept up to date and in working order
- Write procedures/processes on all installed systems with primary focus on electrical systems
- Carry out controlled switching of switchgear, panels, and equipment either for maintenance or recovery from failure
- Issue/Close/Inspect work permits and work areas when required (LOTO Logs, SOPs, MOPs, Risk Assessments, Access, Hot Work, Mechanical Work, Roof Work) for vendors and Leads/Operating Engineers
- Complete Life Safety Systems Log reviews and ensure critical spares update/inventory/records/ordering is kept current
- Complete and update EHS records as needed while identifying safety hazards and incorporating remediation to ensure staff and occupants work in a safe environment
- Maintain all infrastructure and compliance documentation including up-to-date building drawings and single-lines as well as documentation mandated for regulatory compliance
- Oversee contractor activities within the building and maintain records of building rounds and readings, all engineering logs and engineering data sheets
- Serve as subject matter expert on all electrical, life safety, and fire alarm systems with solid understanding of NFPA-70E
- Troubleshoot and respond to operational and emergency situations, checking malfunctioning equipment and implementing corrective actions
- Prioritize PMs, corrective, and emergent work orders for the site (annual, monthly, weekly, and daily)
- Maintain clean and safe working environment, identifying and remediating all EHS issues as they arise
- Ensure availability of adequate inventory of tools and other supplies to operate the building.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience in building engineering management or facilities engineering with focus on electrical systems
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical, life safety, and fire alarm systems
- Solid understanding of NFPA-70E with ability to work on equipment in required Arc Flash PPE
- Experience with safety training such as NFPA-70E and OSHA-10
- Ability to develop SOPs, MOPs, and technical documentation
- Experience managing reactive maintenance within SLA-driven environments
- Strong understanding of engineering design and operational aspects of building critical systems and components
- Ability to troubleshoot and respond to operational and emergency situations
- Experience coordinating and managing vendor activities
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Excellent communication and training abilities
- Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in data center or mission-critical facility operations
- Project management experience supporting facility projects and modifications
- Experience with EPM (Electrical Preventative Maintenance) program development
- Background in panel load forecasting and capacity planning
- Experience with CMMS and work order management systems
- Additional certifications in electrical systems, life safety, or facilities management
- Experience supervising and training technical teams.

Estimated compensation for this position:
126,600.00 - 155,000.00 USD per yearThis range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
