General Description of the Role:

The Sales Engineer is designed to build technical, customer-facing, and business development skills through hands-on experience with customers, products, and the Sales & Marketing team. The role will initially support customer meetings, product demonstrations, and requirements discovery while developing a strong understanding of the company’s products and tactical communications systems. As technical knowledge and customer engagement skills grow, the Sales Engineer will take on increasing responsibility for customer interactions, technical discovery, demonstrations, and supporting the identification of future business opportunities.

What You’ll Do in this Role:

Technical Sales & Customer Engagement:

  • Support customer meetings, product demonstrations, trade shows, partner discussions, and emerging program engagements.
  • Develop an understanding of customer tactical communications configurations and ask effective technical discovery questions.
  • Explain how company products fit within customer architectures and identify compatibility or integration considerations.
  • Progress toward independently conducting defined product demonstrations and customer engagements.
  • Collaborate closely with customer service to communicate complete and accurate requirements to ensure estimates and orders are delivered accurately, and in a timely manner.

Requirements Discovery & Solution Development

  • Capture customer configurations, operational challenges, desired functionality, and technical requirements accurately.
  • Translate customer conversations into clear Voice of the Customer (VOC) and actionable technical requirements.
  • Acts as a liaison between end user and Product team to support the development of proposed product configurations and solutions.
  • Identify technical questions, compatibility concerns, or capability gaps requiring Product involvement.

Business Development & Sales Portfolio

  • Develop an understanding of how customer needs, technical requirements, and market observations are evaluated as potential business opportunities.
  • Support the Head of Sales & Marketing by documenting potential Sales Portfolio Candidates and providing relevant customer, technical, and market information.
  • Participate in Sales Portfolio Reviews and assigned follow-up activities to gain exposure to how opportunities are evaluated, prioritized, and developed.

Product & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Develop an understanding of how Sales & Marketing, Product, and Operations collaborate to evaluate and address customer requirements.
  • Share customer feedback, technical requirements, and operational challenges with Product and internal stakeholders under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Participate in cross-functional discussions and projects involving product modifications, integrations, new product requirements, and customer solutions to build technical and business judgment.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on content related to events and development of sales presentations.

Qualifications:

· Approximately 1 year of sales experience, preferably in a customer-facing, technical, or relationship-driven environment.

· Willingness to learn and develop knowledge of the company’s products, customers, and industry.

· Strong listening, questioning, and discovery skills, with the ability to identify important information within complex customer conversations.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

· Strong relationship-building skills and a professional demeanor that inspires trust and credibility with customers, partners, and colleagues.

· Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, track follow-up activities, and collaborate effectively across functions.

· Ability and willingness to travel approximately 25-30% for customer meetings, trade shows, demonstrations, partner engagements, and industry events, while working effectively in an in-person, collaborative environment.

· Experience or familiarity with tactical communications, military or federal law enforcement environments, defense technology, systems integration, or related industries, including exposure to tactical radios, EUDs/smartphones, hubs, PTTs, headsets, power systems, or similar equipment preferred.

· Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident.
