Backend Developer

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints for internal and external consumption.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services using Kotlin and JVM technologies.
• Participate in system architecture design and implementation of scalable microservices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate product requirements into technical solutions.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code with proper documentation and unit tests.
• Implement security and data protection best practices.
• Optimize performance of services including database access and network communication.
• Monitor system health and troubleshoot issues in production environments.
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and team ceremonies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2-4 years of experience in backend development, with a focus on Kotlin (or strong experience in Java with recent Kotlin adoption).
• Proficient in building RESTful APIs and working with Spring Boot, Ktor, or similar frameworks.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented and functional programming principles.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Familiarity with tools like Docker, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Good understanding of software engineering best practices including TDD and clean code.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
