Technical Content Development Engineer (India)

Interview Content at Karat

Karat's Interview Content team designs, writes, tests, and monitors the technical interview questions and scoring rubrics used in every Karat interview. From the questions candidates see to the rubrics interviewers score them against, our work spans technical domains from software engineering to data science and beyond.

What you will do

As a Content Development Engineer, you'll design and build the technical interview questions used to assess software engineering candidates: coding exercises, debugging challenges, and real-world engineering scenarios, implemented and validated across multiple programming languages. This is not a traditional software engineering role; you won't be building or maintaining production systems. You'll write code to construct, test, and correct these problems and their reference solutions, using modern AI-assisted development tools and peer review to keep the content technically accurate and fair. You'll work closely with Karat's Content Architecture team on format and standards, and use candidate performance data and interviewer feedback to identify and fix underperforming content.

This position requires a schedule that overlaps with U.S. business hours.

• Design and build technical interview questions, including coding exercises, debugging challenges, knowledge assessments, and real-world engineering scenarios.
• Write and test interview content across multiple programming languages, checking that solutions are correct and consistent.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to speed up content creation, while applying engineering judgment to keep it accurate.
• Conduct peer reviews to make sure content meets Karat's technical and quality standards.
• Update content based on candidate performance data, interviewer feedback, and Content Corrections requests.
• Partner with Content Architecture to improve content development processes and assessment quality.
• Help improve development standards, templates, and documentation for the Content team.

The experience you will bring

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience (post-academic, post-internship), working in at least one modern programming language
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: debugging, testing, reviewing code, and giving constructive technical feedback
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, Gemini Code Assist, or similar)
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills
• Experience working remotely on global, distributed teams, with availability during U.S. hours preferred

This position is only available to candidates residing in Bengaluru (formerly known as Bangalore). While our team operates 100% remotely, we are currently limiting hiring to this specific location. Applications from other cities in India will not be considered at this time.
