Job summary

This job requires a high degree of specialized expertise, as well as the ability to maintain established quality standards. This person must be driven, determined, and self-disciplined, with a commitment to accurate, high-quality, and rapid results.

The job environment is structured, with clear job expectations. Although the pace of the work is faster than average, this person never compromises quality. They communicate and build relationships based on the technical aspects of the work.

This person will be responsible for running and maintaining daily processes, continually seeking to improve to refine quality and efficiency, produce a better product, and reduce costs. The ideal candidate is someone who fosters trust, demonstrates a sense of urgency, consistently hits quality standards, and makes decisions in support of company guidelines.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Works with manufacturing supervisors and other engineers in developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods by utilizing knowledge of product design, raw materials, tooling, production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards
  • Participates in the process of identifying and qualifying new production equipment and systems
  • Investigate production problems and recommend improvements
  • Supervises technical staff, including the maintenance department and tooling shop
  • Works with the safety supervisor to perform hazard analysis on new equipment and systems to ensure safe working conditions
  • Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements
  • Analyzes production processes, schedules, methods, and other data to understand future production requirements needed for the manufacturing process, to assist management in decision-making
  • Ensures the company's manufacturing processes comply with all government laws and regulations
  • Analyzes and plans workflow, equipment placement, and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency
  • Coordinates equipment maintenance and repair services, and ensures the manufacturer's procedures and instructions are followed to keep production equipment operational
  • Coordinates implementation of Engineering Change Orders and recording the cut-in date.
  • Adhere to health, fire, and safety regulations; identify potential safety hazards and report such to the Human Resources Department
  • Upholds Keiser's Commitment to Customer Satisfaction at all times
  • Perform related duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering required, preferably from a technical college with hands-on field experience requirements
  • 5-10 years of practical experience working as a Manufacturing Engineer
  • Familiarity using 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Computer-aided Design (CAD), Computer-aided Manufacturing (CAM)
  • Experience in various manufacturing processes and techniques (5 years required, 10 years preferred)
  • Experience in executing improvement projects with LEAN Manufacturing concepts

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands and work environment described here represent those that must be met and encountered by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing this job's duties, an employee must continuously use hands and fingers, feel, and measure, and frequently reach above, below, and at shoulder level. The employee will be required to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation. The employee may also be required to climb ladders on occasion. The employee must possess efficient means of communicating with others. Specific vision abilities required are close and color vision and depth perception. This job will require working in manufacturing and production environments with a lot of standing on concrete floors in moderate temperatures. COMPENSATION

  • Final compensation will be determined and based on experience
  • This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs, and other considerations permitted by law
  • Quarterly bonus option available for most employees
  • Exempt position; Salary range: $73,000 - $90,000 annually
