Overview

Keysight is at the forefront of technology innovation, delivering breakthroughs and trusted insights in electronic design, simulation, prototyping, test, manufacturing, and optimization. Our ~16,800 employees create world-class solutions in communications, 5G, automotive, energy, quantum, aerospace, defense, and semiconductor markets for customers in over 100 countries. Learn more about what we do.

Our award-winning culture embraces a bold vision of where technology can take us and a passion for tackling challenging problems with industry-first solutions. We believe that when people feel a sense of belonging, they can be more creative, innovative, and thrive at all points in their careers.

The Quantum Engineering Solution (QES) team at Keysight designs and develops measurement solutions that enable the future of quantum technologies. QES’s world-class solutions address the challenging and exciting market of quantum technologies, including quantum computing, quantum communications, and quantum sensing.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a curious, creative individual to develop and evaluate techniques for characterizing the electrical properties of quantum devices used in quantum computing. As the industry drives toward utility-scale quantum computing, it is critical to optimize the processes for manufacturing quantum devices repeatably and reliably. Keysight’s expertise in test and measurement in both labs and foundries uniquely positions us to help customers meet these challenges.

In this role, you’ll have access to high-performance instrumentation to develop measurement strategies for testing and characterizing quantum devices. In addition, you’ll develop Python workflows to demonstrate how these measurements can be automated through software programming interfaces. Your work will help shape QES’s approach to delivering world-class quantum test and measurement solutions.

The ideal candidate has an interest in quantum engineering, particularly quantum computing, and strong Python programming skills. Prior experience with measurement equipment is not required; you will work alongside a team of experts who will provide guidance and support. Success in this role requires initiative, the ability to work independently, and a willingness to ask questions and seek help when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop measurement techniques on quantum devices using a parametric analyzer
  • Create Python scripts to automate the measurements and demonstrate repeatability
  • Collaborate with QES physicists to identify measurement challenges and develop practical solutions.
  • Present findings and alternative approaches to the team, incorporate feedback to refine measurement techniques and automation workflows.

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience programming in Python, including writing scripts for data collection, analysis, and automation.
  • Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills, with ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Willingness to quickly learn new technologies and communicate technical concepts clearly.

Desired Skills

  • Familiarity with quantum computing or other quantum technologies.
  • Experience programming test instrumentation using PyVisa or similar API.
  • Portfolio or examples of relevant work or academic projects preferred.

The level of the role will be based on applicable experience, education and skills; most offers will be between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range listed below.

Massachusetts pay range: MIN $30.34 to MAX $32.68

Note: for other locations, pay ranges vary by region.

Relocation is available for this position.
