Position Summary:

The Senior Director, Solutions Engineering is responsible for leading Kindsight’s high-impact, customer-facing pre-sales function across technical solution design, bespoke product demonstrations, and complex enterprise proposal execution. This leader oversees Solutions Engineering and Proposal Management resources that support strategic sales and client expansion pursuits across nonprofit, education, and healthcare fundraising markets.

The Senior Director ensures Kindsight delivers compelling, accurate, tailored, and timely product demonstrations, RFP/RFI/RFQ responses, and technical engagements that clearly map platform capabilities to customer requirements and fundraising outcomes. The role requires close coordination with Sales, Product, Partnerships, Legal, Security, Finance, Services, Client Success, and external vendors to produce winning proposals and high-quality technical engagements.

This is a highly visible leadership role that directly influences enterprise deal success, win rates, partner ecosystem strength, and pre-sales operational excellence. The Senior Director must bring an established enterprise SaaS Solutions Engineering playbook and be able to apply it within a high-growth environment, balancing strategic deal support with operational rigor while ensuring team capacity is highly utilized, scalable, and aligned to growth priorities.

What You’ll Do:

Solutions Engineering Leadership

  • Lead and develop a high-performing Solutions Engineering team responsible for custom demonstrations, technical discovery, use-case mapping, and technical pre-sales engagements.

  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, scenario-based product demonstrations ranging from virtual overviews to multi-day on-site enterprise presentations.

  • Establish demo standards, playbooks, reusable assets, certification paths, and demonstration governance to improve consistency and scalability.

  • Drive deep product knowledge and domain fluency across nonprofit, healthcare, education, advancement, and fundraising workflows.

  • Translate complex fundraising and advancement requirements into compelling technical solutions, demonstrations, and value narratives.

  • Partner closely with Sales and Client Success leadership to align demo strategy with account priorities, expansion opportunities, and deal strategy.

  • Implement ongoing training and certification programs to continuously upskill Solutions Engineers and relevant internal team members.

  • Improve demo environment readiness, performance, repeatability, and quality control.

  • Establish measurable pre-sales performance indicators and continuously evaluate the impact of Solutions Engineering on win rates, deal velocity, technical validation, capacity, and revenue outcomes.

Proposal and RFP Program Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end execution of complex RFP, RFI, and RFQ responses across enterprise opportunities.

  • Manage Proposal Managers responsible for timeline control, task assignment, contributor coordination, and response assembly.

  • Establish proposal governance, content libraries, response frameworks, review workflows, and quality standards.

  • Coordinate cross-functional contributors across Product, Engineering, Security, Compliance, Finance, Legal, Services, Partnerships, and external vendors.

  • Ensure proposal responses are accurate, complete, compliant, and aligned with win strategy.

  • Oversee pricing matrices, technical documentation, security responses, compliance artifacts, and required supporting materials.

  • Drive continuous improvement in proposal turnaround time, response quality, content reuse, and partner response workflows.

  • Ensure proposals demonstrate a clear understanding of fundraising and advancement challenges and connect technical capabilities to measurable customer outcomes.

Cross-Functional and Partner Coordination

  • Serve as the central coordination leader for pre-sales technical and proposal activities.

  • Build strong working relationships across internal departments and partner vendors.

  • Improve partner contribution workflows for joint proposals and multi-vendor opportunities.

  • Support strategic partner alignment in opportunities involving Salesforce, integrated vendors, or broader ecosystem participation.

  • Collaborate with Product and Marketing on reusable technical content, market positioning, proof points, and field enablement.

  • Provide structured feedback to Product, Implementation, and leadership on recurring buyer requirements, technical gaps, competitive themes, and demo/proposal trends.

Operating Model and Capacity Management

  • Establish capacity planning, utilization reporting, prioritization rules, and engagement models for Solutions Engineering and Proposal resources.

  • Ensure strategic opportunities receive the right level of technical and proposal support.

  • Define intake standards, SLAs, review checkpoints, escalation paths, and quality gates for demos and proposal work.

  • Build scalable processes that reduce ad hoc work, improve quality, and increase field confidence.

  • Support hiring, onboarding, development, performance management, and succession planning across the SE and Proposal teams.

  • Travel up to 30% as required.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, Technical Pre-Sales, Solution Consulting, Proposal Management, or related roles in enterprise SaaS.

  • Proven experience directly leading, developing, and scaling technical pre-sales, Solution Consulting, Solutions Engineering, or proposal teams.

  • Demonstrated experience building, implementing, or significantly evolving a repeatable Solutions Engineering operating model, including discovery, demonstrations, technical validation, capacity planning, prioritization, enablement, and performance measurement.

  • Proven success operating within a high-growth SaaS environment, with demonstrable results tied to pre-sales effectiveness, revenue growth, win rates, deal velocity, technical win rates, team productivity, utilization, or other measurable business outcomes.

  • Experience supporting fundraising, advancement, nonprofit, higher education, healthcare fundraising, or closely related mission-driven technology environments.

  • Strong understanding of fundraising and advancement workflows, including donor engagement, constituent management, campaign management, prospect development, giving, reporting, or related fundraising operations.

  • Experience responding to complex enterprise RFPs and managing proposal operations.

  • Strong organizational, process design, and program management capabilities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to synthesize large volumes of technical and business information into clear narratives and structured responses.

  • Experience coordinating cross-functional contributors and external partners.

  • Strong executive presence and presentation leadership.

  • Familiarity with CRM platforms, integrations, data workflows, and enterprise SaaS architectures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with fundraising technology, advancement CRM, donor management, prospect research, or fundraising intelligence platforms.

  • Salesforce ecosystem familiarity strongly preferred.

  • Experience supporting enterprise nonprofit, healthcare, education, university advancement, foundation, or other mission-driven organizations.

  • Experience managing demo environments, technical enablement, proposal content libraries, and partner response workflows.

  • Experience scaling pre-sales operating models during periods of significant SaaS growth or organizational transformation.

  • Experience establishing measurable Solutions Engineering KPIs and demonstrating the function’s impact on revenue and enterprise sales performance.
