KLA is an American supplier of process control and yield management equipment for semiconductor manufacturing, formed by the 1997 merger of KLA Instruments, founded in 1975, and Tencor Instruments. Its tools inspect wafers, reticles and packaging for defects and measure critical dimensions and overlay, giving chipmakers the feedback they need to keep yields acceptable at advanced nodes. Headquartered in Milpitas, California and listed on Nasdaq, it holds a dominant share of the wafer inspection market and also supplies specialty process and electronic assembly equipment.

To make electronics, you need chips, wafers, transistors, reticles, and... To make these, you must see, test and manufacture them at scale-faster and better than ever before. That's where KLA comes in. Whether you're early in your career or an experienced professional, you'll solve complex challenges, work alongside brilliant minds and help shape the future of technology.

Group/Division

The Semiconductor Products and Customers (Semi PC) business unit designs, builds and sells KLA’s product portfolio to help chip manufacturers meet high-quality standards for technologies like AI, data centers, automotive and electronic devices. Our inspection, metrology, and analytics systems detect and monitor defects across logic and memory chips, specialty semiconductors, wafers, reticles, advanced packaging, process equipment and materials. We also develop technologies for specialty processes, IC substrates, and PCB manufacturing, including etch and deposition, component inspection, and imaging and analytics. The SPTS division provides advanced wafer processing solutions-including etch, deposition and vapor-based technologies-designed for R&D through high-volume production. With a global presence and strong customer support network, SPTS helps manufacturers across industries improve performance, yield and cost-efficiency. It also offers comprehensive service and spare parts through a worldwide network of service centers and qualified local agents.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will play a key part in advancing business priorities by delivering high-impact work across your area of expertise.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the PVD Engineering team, supporting the development, qualification, and continuous improvement of advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will be responsible for the design and integration of electrical systems used throughout our PVD product portfolio. The role spans the full product lifecycle, from concept development and new product introduction through manufacturing support, customer installations, compliance activities, and field issue resolution.

This position offers the opportunity to work on complex equipment incorporating power distribution, machine safety systems, motion control, vacuum subsystems, process instrumentation, and equipment control architecture.

The successful candidate will be a proactive engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, working across multiple engineering disciplines, and contributing to the development of highly reliable products used by leading semiconductor manufacturers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

  • Design and validate safety-related control systems in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Support compliance activities relating to CE, UL, NFPA, SEMI, and other applicable regulations.
  • Participate in risk assessments and machine safety reviews.
  • Develop and maintain documentation required to support compliance and certification activities.

Electrical Design & Development

  • Design and develop electrical systems, assemblies, and control architectures for semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Generate electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, bills of materials, and supporting engineering documentation.
  • Support the integration of electrical hardware with mechanical, software, process, and systems engineering teams.
  • Conduct design reviews and ensure designs meet functional, safety, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Support product development activities from concept through qualification and release to manufacture.

Product Support & Continuous Improvement

  • Investigate and resolve electrical issues affecting product performance, reliability, safety, manufacturing, or customer acceptance.
  • Support root cause investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Drive product improvement initiatives focused on reliability, serviceability, cost reduction, and obsolescence management.
  • Support field service and customer escalation activities where required.

Supplier & Manufacturing Support

  • Work closely with suppliers to develop and qualify electrical assemblies and components.
  • Support manufacturing teams with build issues, testing, and design improvements.
  • Review and approve component substitutions and engineering changes.

Occasional domestic and international travel (up to 10%), including to the United States, may be required as part of this role

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience in electrical design and development within an industrial, automation, capital equipment, or high-technology environment
