JOB DESCRIPTION:

Summary/Objective

1st Shift: 5:30AM to 4:00 PM Monday-Thursday.

This position requires performing routine and repetitive assembly operations and processes for passenger rail car parts in a manual manufacturing assembly line environment. The candidate works in a team environment participating in continuous improvement activities, as well as. Uses pneumatic tools, basic hand tools, and power tools (motorized drill, rivet gun, etc.). The candidate is required to perform versatile duties and is able to organize the areas around their own work place in a self-sufficient manner, within the product group.

Essential Functions

• Manufactures quality parts, following specific work instructions
• Provides verbal and written status of manufacturing progress
• Applies and handles sealants and adhesives
• Performs acceptance test procedures utilizing specific test equipment
• May train others in manufacturing methods.
• Keeps assigned areas organized and clean per set principles
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Understand and support all Quality, Product Safety, and Health/Safety/Environmental/Energy policies.
• Understand and adhere to all relevant statutory or regulatory compliance obligations.
• Understand, support and adhere to the Integrated Management System policies, procedures and instructions.
• Understand and support relevant key performance indicators (KPIs), as defined in the goal tree.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

The employee will be exposed to shop floor conditions, i.e. noise, heat, cold, dust/dirt etc. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools and reach with hands and arms.

Required Education and Experience

This position requires analytical skills and the ability to interpret information to take the appropriate action.

Education and Experience: High School Diploma, GED, or experience/knowledge as determined by management in a production environment or equivalent business environment

• Must possess basic Math skills and be able to comprehend varying units of measure
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, and take the initiative
• Ability to understand and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics/drawings
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes
• Ability to read, comprehend written and process specification documents

The anticipated wage scale for candidates who will work in Watertown, NY is $21.21 per hour during training, and $22.71 after training. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry and education. New York Air Brake is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations. Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, employees (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, vision, and basic life and disability insurance. Employees also will be able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive 80 hours of vacation leave and 40 hours of Personal Paid Absence every year. Employees will also enjoy 12 paid holidays, and 1 floating holiday throughout the calendar year, subject to relevant terms outlined in the employee handbook. 6 weeks of paid parental leave will also be available for use. Requirements for these benefits will be controlled by applicable plan documents and policies. Employees working on federal contracts covered by the Federal Paid Sick Leave requirements will be notified and will receive benefits consistent and compliant with the FPSL requirements. Hired applicant will be able to purchase company stock, subject to the relevant plan documents and annual bonuses based on achievement of certain metrics.
