JOB DESCRIPTION:
Industrial Quality Engineer Intern (Mechanical Engineering)
Essential Functions
- Support quality planning and product validation activities for mechanical components and assemblies.
- Assist with inspection, testing, and evaluation of products to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and quality requirements.
- Support First Article Inspection (FAI), PPAP, and supplier quality activities as required.
- Perform dimensional analysis and review engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerance requirements.
- Collect, analyze, and report quality data using statistical and problem-solving techniques.
- Assist in root cause investigations and corrective action activities related to product and process non-conformities.
- Support quality improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects, improving process capability, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supplier Quality teams on continuous improvement projects.
- Create and maintain quality documentation, inspection records, and reports.
- Utilize 3D CAD models and engineering drawings to support product and quality evaluations.
Skills and Competencies
- Basic understanding of quality engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical design, materials, and manufacturing methods.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Familiarity with 3D CAD software such as NX, Creo, SolidWorks, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of measurement and inspection techniques using common metrology tools.
- Basic knowledge of statistical analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude and experience working with tools, equipment, or laboratory testing.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
